Ash vs. Evil Dead returns this fall and is preparing to give Evil Dead and comedy-horror fans what they want in the form of Bruce Campbell slaying Deadites. There may not be an official fourth Evil Dead movie, but a well-received 10-episode first season has paved the way for even more wildly gory fun.
With the first season having ended on an unexpected note where the villain (Lucy Lawless’ Ruby) essentially won, there are all sorts of possibilities for where the story can go next. Things seem to be starting off on an uncharacteristically positive note. The first official image finds Ash partying, despite Ruby’s possession of the Necronomicon, which should be unleashing Hell on earth. However, this newly released teaser trailer is here to provide all the dastardly evil creatures and gory goods fans expect from another season of Ash vs. Evil Dead. Additionally, Starz has released a new image suggesting an unlikely team-up.
As you can see, the teaser trailer places plenty of emphasis on all the gory details concerning the show’s action-packed horror violence, with only minor hints at what to expect from the story. The cast will still be led by Campbell as Ash Williams. Lawless will return as Ruby. Ray Santiago is still around as Pablo Simon Bolivar, Ash’s loyal sidekick who will be dealing with the trauma he suffered in the cabin at the end of last season. Lastly, Dana DeLorenzo’s Kelly Maxwell remains in the cast as well and is still plotting revenge against the Evil Dead, following the death of her parents.
Starz has released a brief synopsis of where things are headed for the season 2:
“The second season roars back into action with Ash leaving his beloved Jacksonville and returning to his hometown of Elk Grove. There, he confronts Ruby. The former enemies have to form an uneasy alliance as Elk Grove soon becomes the nucleus of evil.”
That’s enough to get thing started, and based on the image and the teaser trailer, the alliance between Ruby and Ash (along with the “ghostbeaters”) will likely lead to plenty of violent mayhem, which is fitting for the series. As previously announced, Lee Majors, Ted Raimi, and Michelle Hurd will join the cast this season as Ash’s father, Ash’s childhood best friend, and Linda, Ash’s former girlfriend (who met a gruesome fate in multiple entries in the film series). The 10-episode second season of the half-hour series will continue to be executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, Ivan Raimi, and Craig DiGregorio, who serves as executive producer and showrunner, so expect even more gory goodness you got the first time around.
Ash vs. Evil Dead season 2 returns this October.
