The new trailer for Arrow season 6 has dropped, along with the news that Michael Emerson will be joining the cast as a mystery character. The trailer dropped at SDCC this weekend, teasing a little of what fans can expect from the upcoming season without revealing exactly who could have survived the dramatic cliffhanger that ended the season 5 finale.

Fans are expecting to see some big changes this season, as the show finally gets rid of the 'island flashbacks' that have been an integral part of Arrow since season 1, and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) becomes more involved in his son's life. William (Jack Moore) is going to be a much bigger part of the upcoming season, and he plays a big part in the new trailer - as well as a few other familiar faces.

The trailer is a long one, at nearly three and a half minutes, but a big chunk of that time is taken up with recapping the situation between Oliver and Prometheus, and the dramatic finale that saw everyone Oliver loves potentially blown up on Lian Yu. From this new footage, it's clear that Oliver and William return to Star City, and that Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) and Black Canary (Juliana Harkavy) are also reappearing. Deathstroke (Manu Bennet) is also featured heavily in the trailer, but there is no evidence of the rest of Team Arrow.

In addition to the trailer, TVLine reports that Michael Emerson will be coming to Star City this season, although the details of his character have not yet been revealed, and he is not immediately apparent in the trailer. All that has been disclosed so far is that he will have a recurring role. David Nykl will also be returning as Anatoly Knyazev.

It's clear that The CW is not willing to give away any details about who has survived the island before the show picks up again (or at least, not quite yet), although fans are assuming that many of the members of Team Arrow will have found a way to survive. There is a frame in the trailer that does show two people running in front of a blast on the island, and it looks like Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is one of them, so it's very likely that she is a survivor, but this hasn't yet been officially confirmed. The trailer does also show a fight between Black Siren and Black Canary, which is bound to be an emotional one for fans who loved Katie Cassidy as the Canary, but doesn't give any details about how this will come about.

The trailer poses more questions than it answers, but it is sure to get fans excited for the premiere of the sixth season in October.
