‘Arrow’ Season 3 Trailer & Details; ‘Flash’ Crossover Plans Revealed

Published 3 months ago by

Arrow was a most welcome presence at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, as fanboys and girls have embraced DC Comics, Warner Bros. and The CW’s new blueprint for what superhero TV shows are all about. Arrow season 3 has already gained some major attention for casting iconic DC characters like Katana, The Atom, and a revamped Count Vertigo into the mix – as well as revealing some impressive promo art of DC superhero Arsenal, aka the fully-costumed Roy Harper.

However, it was the Arrow Comic-Con panel that many fans lined up to see, and the showrunners – along with star Stephen Amell and the ensemble cast – did not want to disappoint.

SEASON 3 REVEALS

    • Season 3 is fully mapped out as of now.
    • Thea is going to go through some big changes (possibly super changes?) – “…I’m hitting the gym…” says actress Willa Holland. The Thea that you saw in seasons 1 and season 2 is not coming back for season 3.”
    • Daddy Diggle will be a focus of season 3′s subplots.
    • Arrow and The Flash will have a crossover event when each show hits episode 8. Each crossover episode for each show will be a two-hour event.

Arrow & The Flash Crossover in Episode 8 of both shows.

  • Other small crossovers will happen – like Felicity going to Central City (S3E4).
  • Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer (The Atom) will be a romantic interest for Felicity.
  • Amell ALSO thinks that Arsenal has a superior costume to Arrow.
  • There will be fewer island flashbacks, but still some important storytelling that gets done in them.
  • Established characters like Amanda Waller will get more to do; don’t expect a flood of newbies beyond the confirmed new additions.
  • We will get Felicity flashbacks and learn more about her father (it’s NOT Prof. Ivo). Her flashbacks start in an episode called “Oracle”.

  1. Trailer looks sexy. I know Stephen missed saying “You have failed this city” in season 2 so I bet he loved saying it then. Also, Hong Kong chase scene reminded me of the chase scene in Ong Bak, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

There’s been hints from Amell himself and the producers that Laurel will become Black Canary and that Ra’s al Ghul may appear so looking forward to the rest of the panel.

    • I totally knew they were going to change it to Star City! Man it looks like the first episodes are going to be action packed. Looking forward to this season :D

      • Noticed that too and smiled a little. Got kinda annoying reading “Starling City” and “The Arrow” so it’s kinda nice they’re finally bringing in at least one actual name from the comics. I guess the city is in need of a major rebranding after the trouble it’s been through the last few years.

        • I get the feeling the producers want to make Arrow as closes to the comics as possible. Since that’s what The Flash’s motto is being a faithful adaption. I want to see Nightwing, The Question, Blue Beetle & Richard Dragon. Can’t wait for the 2 hour crossover & the ” Oracle” episode.

          • It was funny how Amell grew a beard and most of his fans commented on his Facebook that he should keep it for the show to look like a true Green Arrow.

            • The Flash is making Arrow step up its game. Seeing Kreisenberg & Berlanti are producers are on both shows they want them to play off each other. If the The Flash is a hit ( which I don’t doubt it) I would want another hero to have their own spinoff. DC is on fire & I know the CW wants too widen it’s audience & make a less Gossip Girl network.

              • Seems likely, although regarding the CW stuff, that doesn’t concern me too much because I watch stuff online (might be getting rid of my TV soon so even more reason to turn to the site I use), plus in the UK, Arrow airs on the same channel that gives us 24, Spartacus and others so the “teen” thing is a non-issue for most viewers here.

          • i read it as a 4 hour cross over event.
Each crossover episode for each show will be a two-hour event

            Am i right?

          • with the “Oracle” episode could we see the formation of the “Birds of Prey” with Felicity instead of Barbara Gordon?

            • Pretty much what I said last night (comment is below) but without the Birds Of Prey mention. I guess it depends on the episode and if The Huntress returns.

  2. I cant wait

  3. Wait, saw the new info and….episode called Oracle? Felicity’s dad? Could she be….you know, “her”? A reworked version of Babs?

I like how AOS is adding Marvel’s Black Canary ripoff, Mockingbird, to season 2 (calm down, people, the guy who created Mockingbird admitted that Marvel asked him to copy the Green Arrow/Black Canary dynamic because they really dug it and wanted a BC equivalent for Hawkeye to marry).

It’s like both sides are really trying to step it up and that’s a great thing for viewers.

  4. cant wait for the crossover ep thats gonna be good

  5. Looks exciting! And Ray Palmer omg yesss AND OLICITY YAAAAS

    • Im also rooting for Oliver and Felicity, but I did not like that Ray Palmer will also be interested in her and her in him. Hopefully its more him interested in her.

  6. looks like another good season ahead. cant wait for season 2 to show up on netflix and marathon watch it again before s3 starts. if history repeats itself it should drop before the new season starts.

  7. This show just gets better and better. I’m so excited!

Brandon Routh is gonna be great. Loved the quick look we got of him in the trailer :)

Star City! Thea’s hitting the gym! Even Amell thinks the Arsenal outfit is better! The Oracle! Just… so much stuff. And I guarantee it’s barely scratching the surface of the awesomeness that Season 3 will be.

    Can’t wait!

  8. I like how the creators of Arrow from Season One tried to make it similar to Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy and make it grounded in reality, but going through Season Two, they ask themselves, “You know what? Let’s give the fans what they want.” We’ve got Barry Allen struck by lightning in order to get super-speed. Deathstroke. The Atom. Starling City getting renamed as Star City.

  9. I love the show but is it just me or is anyone else worried about the show’s ratings… I know it’s on the CW, but Arrow’s ratings for season 2 are lower than season 1 (and season 2 is supposedly superior). I live in Canada and we watch it through CTV which is Canada’s biggest TV Network and it doesn’t get the “Arrow is on a teenage girl’s network” bias. In the US, why does it matter if it’s on the CW? A great show is a great show regardless of its network provider…

  10. I wouldn’t worry about it. Arrow still has more viewers than a lot of the other CW shows and is nowhere close to being cancelled. Plus the network will keep a show if they like it a lot. Smallville is a show that I loved and it’s viewers were pretty low and it still got 10 seasons

  11. Dont worry its good

  12. With regards to Felicity’s parents… who was the woman Comm. Gordon had an affair with in Batman Year One?

  13. Love this show, really hope to see a another spin off series seeing the Red Hood and the outlaws now that Roy is Arsenal hopefully they can cast another DC character as Jason Todd.

  14. looks good and on a separate i think he is a good actor because he plays various versions of oliver quite effectively namely pre-island,island,season 1 and present ones

  15. So… are they gonna be doing something with Ollie’s suit, cause I’m really bothered by the fact that the sidekick looks cooler than the actual main character. Seriously, Ollie needs to step up his game in the costume department.

    • Someone pointed out that The Arrow suit is sleeveless at 1:29. And yeah, it’s just weird seeing the “sidekick” looking cooler than the main hero.

  16. I like the step that season 3 is heading!! The trailer looks very hot! The men are good looking! Looking foward to a different scene then just on the island. Im glad they are doing the hong kong scenes and moving forward with something new and fresh! S

  17. I’d like them to bring back Moira Queen. To me, the sub-plot that involved her and her new husband, the Black British guy, was an extremely interesting aspect of the entire show.
I’d like to see these two get re-married.
I loved the family dynamic of the show, the 2 kids, Oliver and Thea, with their mother and step father.
The family aspect of the show kept it real so that it wasn’t just a show that teenagers could enjoy.
The diversity in the casting of the show is beyond excellent. The producers should be praised for this.

I also enjoyed the sub-plot that involved Moira Queen running for Mayor. The show needs more sub-plots like this in order to keep the whole thing real and to prevent it from becoming too much like a cartoon for young kids.
I’d also like to see John Diggle have a more important role in some of the episodes and be less of a second fiddle.
Some of the characters that they introduced in the second season were interesting especially the (Black) Canary and Blood. But the writers need to really work on keeping the superhero characters very real. How come their fighting skills are so impressive? Why are their reflexes so quick? Where did they get their special weapons? Do they have kevlar in their uniforms? Can they take a bullet?
I hope that season 3 does not devolve into a show that is very much a cartoon suitable for 5 year olds.

I’m hoping that season 3 will be very good but like I said, for me, I’d like to see more of Moira Queen and her Black British husband.

    • Did appeared the new episode of arrow?
