Arrow Season 2 Poster Arrow Season 2 Villain Roster to Include Clock King

Arrow isn’t a show that could ever be accused of ignoring its source material, as it often seems like each new episode brings with it another character from the Green Arrow comic books to either fight alongside Oliver Queen or, more commonly, work against him to corrupt Starling City. Vigilantism and villainy are abound, and the wave of bad guys doesn’t look like it will be letting up any time soon.

Amid the episodic guest star villains like the Count, Deadshot and the Dollmaker, the new season-spanning enemy of choice is Sebastian Blood, who has been cooking up a serum designed to give exceptional powers to ordinary thugs, and who possesses a massive amount of sway over the hearts and minds of Starling City’s downtrodden classes.

However, there’s always time for more bad guys (get it?), and TV Line is reporting that a casting notice for William Tockman AKA Clock King has been released, seeking an actor in his 40s or 50s for the part. This means that Clock King will show up during the latter half of season 2,after the show returns in January.

Arrow casting Clock King Arrow Season 2 Villain Roster to Include Clock King

Compared to the likes of the Dark Archer, Solomon Grundy and Brother Blood, Clock King is, at the risk of being cruel, kind of lame. His only superpower is impeccable punctuality. His clock-covered outfit is dorky even by comic book villain standards. His nemesis is the common typo.

With that in mind, there’s definitely room for him in Starling City, which welcomes villains great and small. Arrow has yet to introduce any characters with true superpowers (though that will change as the Flash enters the picture), which at least puts Clock King on a fairly level playing field. Based on the casting call, it sounds like Clock King’s strategy will be a useful asset to his criminal status, as he apparently has “the mind of a chess grandmaster, and can envision all the interlocking pieces of Starling City and adjust them in favor of his crimes.

Clock King could actually be a useful ally for the woefully unpunctual Oliver Queen, whose inability to show up to meetings on time (or at all) has become a source of great aggravation for his business partner, Isabel Rochev. Perhaps the vigilante should put some effort into recruiting him as a new PA?

Arrow returns Wednesday, December 4th @8pm with ‘The Scientist’ on The CW.

  1. Lame? Wtf, Clock King is f*cking awesome! Watch the Batman: Animated Series episodes with Clock King. Such an underrated villain.

    • +1

And I hope that’s the version we see.

  2. i could see if he was a criminal obsessed with specifics and timing so much that he’d kill a henchman for being late. and if he has that chessmaster sort of thinking that’d be interesting because aside from Merlyn, Oli hasn’t really gone up against anyone who could out think him.

  3. I’m just a bit confused as to why Sebastian Blood was decided as the main villian. There are so many other good choices.

  4. so i’m the Clock King cause i’m punctual?

    shambles character

  5. Is arrow on midseason break right now?

    • NOPE..new episode tonight!!!!!!

    • It will be AFTER tonight’s mid-season finale.

      • awesome! I just caught up and have been extremely impressed with season 2. after being off and on towards season 1. I cant wait!

      • Actually, next week is the mid-season finale :P

Anyway, I kind a want to see the Mad Hatter as a future villain on the show. No real reason, I just think he might be a creepy addition (just don’t let Johnny Depp anywhere near the set).

  6. Interesting.

Also, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

    • I’m impatiently waiting for SR’s post on this news

  7. I love the Clock King episode of Batman TAS from back in the day. When I bought the dvds in 2008 (they were on sale cuz TDK was being released) that was one of my faves. It was kinda funny. He struck me as a (not to offend) pretty lame bad guy and then he totally kicks batman’s a**. It was hilarious. Its a good episode if you can find it on youtube or something, check it out.

I don’t watch Arrow (not for lack of interest, just haven’t checked it out yet) but I will watch a clock-king-centric episode for sure.

  8. This version of Clock King defintely needs to be based on Batman TAS And JLU

    • Deathstroke the Terminator will be making an appearance this season, I guarantee it.

  10. Could we please get some more Green Arrow villains rather than using Batman’s villains?

  11. I’m sure The Hood will “clock” him, “crowning the king” for real!

  12. I just bought arrow’s complete season #1 on DVD; it’s out there, people, got my set at Wally World.

  13. Once Flash gets his own series or into a movie, I want to see him fight Professor Zoom, the Reverse-Flash!

    • Spoiler Alert,

In the episode he mentions his mother was murdered and the guy who did it was never caught, well in the comic it was Professor Zoom who murdered his mother.

  14. His nemesis is the common typo?

What, the Cluck King? No, how about the Clock Thing? Hmmm …. I don’t … wait a sec … oh, I see what you did there.
