The synopsis for upcoming Arrow episode 'Underneath' reveals Oliver and Felicity will be trapped together and forced to deal with their relationship. When Arrow concluded its critically-acclaimed second season, it would have been difficult to find a fan of the show who wasn't rooting for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) to get together when Arrow returned for its next season. But then the show, unfortunately, began a bit of a downward spiral in its third and fourth seasons - at the same time that Oliver and Felicity did start dating each other - and the enthusiasm surrounding their pairing noticeably, and drastically decreased.

Now, Arrow's been on a bit of a comeback with its fifth season, and interestingly enough, the season has almost completely kept the two characters away from each other romantically. In the first half of the season, Felicity had her own boyfriend away from any and all things Team Arrow related. However, he was suddenly turned into a pawn in Prometheus' plan to take down Oliver, resulting in his quick and unexpected death. Ever since then, the future of Oliver and Felicity as a couple has been a bit of an unspoken topic lingering underneath each of their subsequent interactions.

But it looks like Oliver and Felicity may be forced to air all of their grievances and desires for each other much sooner than either might have expected or hoped. Today, The CW released the official synopsis for the upcoming 20th episode of the season, which will be airing in the first week of May, and it reveals that Oliver and Felicity will spend a majority of it trapped in the bunker together. Check out the synopsis for yourself down below:

OLIVER AND FELICITY ARE TRAPPED — Things get intense when Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) are trapped in the bunker together. Meanwhile, Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Andreson) and Diggle (David Ramsey) deal with their marital issues. Wendey Stanzler directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Beth Schwartz (#520). Original airdate 5/3/2017.

Now, whether or not this is the episode that actually starts to bring Oliver and Felicity back together is a complete mystery at this point, and will only have to wait to be seen. But still, the fact that Arrow is finally choosing to give these characters an episode dedicated almost entirely to just the two of them could mean good things for all of the Olicity shippers out there, who still believe the two are meant to be.

That's not to take away from how this season of Arrow has handled the Oliver-Felicity dynamic either, which like most other things in the current season, has been handled with a surprising level of honesty and tactfulness, that feels more at home in Arrow's first two seasons than it does in the third and fourth. With Oliver finally completing his five-year flashback journey to return home to Star City too, there's been an undeniable sense of finality to everything that's happened so far in Arrow this season, which has only helped to further illustrate the dramatic weight behind each and every turn this season has taken. So at this point, no matter what it is the show's creative team has planned for Oliver and Felicity, it's hard not to believe that they've at least managed to earn the fans' trust back yet again.
