With the premiere of the highly-buzzed about superhero drama Arrow quickly approaching, we thought we’d bring you some important info about the comic book characters to be featured in the show. Based on DC Comics' emerald archer, Green Arrow, Arrow tells the tale of millionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) who puts down the champagne bottle and picks up a long-bow in the name of justice, after being marooned on a mysterious island for five years.
Along with Green Arrow (and his family) it has been confirmed by executive producers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern) that many popular (and not so popular) DC heroes and villains will be making an appearance – so it’s time to brush up on your DC Comics Character knowledge, with ‘11 Confirmed DC Characters on CW's Arrow’
Does anybody who writes these things or comments on these actually read comics? First off deathstroke tried to take the ring from kyle rayner GL not hal jordan. Small tid bit of info but crucial none the least. Second a majority of the characters a staple if you read dc comics. Be a comics fan and read all publications. You might be suprised. I have preached enough.
I think Lex Luthor would be appropriate, maybe not as a common character but he should be involved somewhere since he runs Lexcorp. You could have Oliver Queen and Bruce Wayne team up to stop him with out involving batman.
I hope they won’t put in too-too much realism to it because there are characters that have powers. And they need to to consideration and acknowledgement that Green Lantern and Green Lantern are friends. And suppose that if this show does survive, if they don’t bring in Green Lantern in the show for a team-up, quite a few fans’ll(who reads the comic) be mad. And if that be the case, I cannot say I would blame them. I sure would be mad, too.
I have a strong suspicion that they’re basing this series in the same universe as the Nolan Batman movies, where no super-powered heroes or villains exist. To be honest I like this more than Smallville for that reason.
I think Nightwing would be cool. They could have him shadowing Bruce Wayne, while his is there for business with Queen. Also, since his brief apperence as Arrow, I think they should make David Diggle ARSENAL in the second season, since he is working w/ him and training w/ him too.
I would like to see some smaller characters that don’t exactly have powers make appearances in the show. Some that don’t get as much attention. The biggest one for me would be seeing The Question make an appearance. Maybe even bring the Red Hood as a cameo along with the idea of Nightwing appearing also. I don’t really care who as much, I think this show is the perfect opportunity to let the smaller characters shine a bit. I would really like to see the question though.
how did they come up with this:
no super-powered heroes or villains exist
well thats preey the same as making a charmed remake but with no magic/powers
and still we all watch it,so there for they keep making this s***!
whats nex buffy with no vampire’s
or if there is a buffy remake no vampires looks the same like the old series
thats what buffy whas all about the looks and very good story line
the same with this heroes s*** on tv
but it worked on batman so hope it will work for this to
but i keep being mad that they just ingnore the whole smallville green arrow thing just to silly
so i think that alone is a big middle finger to all the smallville fans but hey who am i.
I watched my final episode of Arrow Monday gone. Cannot, absolutely cannot abide the whole “Nothing can happen between” schtick. It gets on my last nerve. Had to stop watching Buffy and Smallville cos of that LOL
I would imagine it that it is far more likely that Merlyn is played by John Barrowman’s character. As the younger Merlyn’s father, he shares the name, plus he is portrayed as a skilled fencer and ruthlessly deadly. With his son being positioned with strong ties between both Black Canary and Green Arrow, combating the father becomes a more compelling story.
You say it is confirmed that the character is the son, not the father. What confirmation did you have?
I think they are using him more as an older, wiser voice. He’s still a hero and solder, but he’s a foil to the impulsive Oliver we have (since he’s young and just getting started in this storyline).
Hopefully he’ll be more War Machine (a soldierly view, but also jumping into combat) and less Alfred (only a voice of wisdom).
I don’t think John Barrowman will be cast as Deathstroke he looks to young unless that’s another liberty they’re taking with the character. I hope they’re true to Deathstroke’s character and cast someone older for the role.

what about batman since he did not show up in smalville

sorry but lex is bad idead mainly cause he is supermans ultimate enemy, so no superman no lex

I hope they put Onomatopoeia in this show. He’s one of the most awesome villains, and is prominent to Green Arrow.
Wanna see Arrowette/Bronze Tiger/Mr. Terric(Micheal Holt)/Vixen
arrowette, roy harper as speedy, and lady shiva.
My guess is Maxwell Lord (to fix the really bad version that was portrayed in Smallville)…
I would love to see nightwing or Dick Grayson make an appearance

it’s already been announced that Deathstroke will be in episode 5 of Arrow -_-
Maybe they won’t him off like they did deadshot

SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!!
Superman isn’t coming to arrow
Anyone who has seen Doctor Who HAS to be happy about the announcement of Cap. Jack’s new role.

What happened to Diggle training as olivers partner, did they just kill that storyline or what?

Oh yea I’m pretty sure the dark archer is Walter since he found that book with the names in it.. Just a mindscrew I guess
You can add to this list Vertigo played by Seth Gabel, only instead of super powers he has a drug that causes the effects
my most favorite superhero is Superman of course but other that him i really like Aquaman and would love to see him featured
merlyn is not tommy merlyn but it’s his dad. just saying
John Barrowman is Merlyn. He play’s tommy’s dad.
The point about merlyn is wrong, joihn barrowman is merlyn not tommy as hsown in episode 9.
I don’t think John Barrowman will be cast as Deathstroke he looks to young unless that’s another liberty they’re taking with the character. I hope they’re true to Deathstroke’s character and cast someone older for the role.
Walter Steele is not ‘African American’ in Arrow.
