The upcoming sixth season of Arrow will not only dive into Black Siren's backstory, but it could see the Earth-2 villain going up against the Lance sisters. With the main arc of Arrow coming to an end last season and the slate potentially being wiped clean due to the events on Lian Yu, the show will be able to start from a brand-new place this season. We know that Team Arrow won't be gaining any new members, but at least a few of the old ones will be returning.

On top of any heroes who will be watching over Star City, a whole bunch of villains will be active on this season of the show. Deathstroke is back in the fold, and GLOW star Sydelle Noel will be chasing after the team as an FBI agent. We also know that Black Siren will be back on the show, with Katie Cassidy once again a series regular. Part of the new season will be spent exploring her backstory and how things have unfolded on her Earth. But with her presence, there's also the possibility of her facing the Canaries.

CBR were on hand during Comic-Con when Cassidy spoke more about the sides of Black Siren that will be explored this year. And while things aren't set in stone, the actor was pretty excited when asked if she wanted to fight White Canary.

“Absolutely. I love working with Caity Lotz. I said to Marc [Guggenheim], 'Is this possible even for Earth-2 Laurel to come face to face with [Earth-1] Laurel? What’s that like?’ That’s something really interesting and cool. I hope they do it. There’s an opportunity in the crossovers for that to happen.”

While bringing Black Siren onto Legends of Tomorrow would let Black Siren and White Canary go face to face, there's also plenty of avenues that the time travel show could use to pit Earth-1 Laurel against her evil doppelgänger. As for exploring the dark side of character, Cassidy has been having a blast.

“First of all, it’s awesome playing evil. It’s so much fun. I think that we’re going to be able to learn more and more about Black Siren and Black Siren’s backstory. I think there are some chances of redemption for her. I do think she’s just very damaged, and in terms of backstory what I’ve sort of done — and this may or may not line up to what the writers end up writing — but her and her father were kidnapped when she was 14 and she was forced to watch him burn to death. So her whole life — this is my backstory, sorry — her whole life she set out to find her father’s killer.”

Cassidy's talk about crafting her own backstory for Earth-2 Laurel is interesting. Likely, we'll learn a lot more about her version of Oliver and her friends and family this season, but the notion that she watched her father get burned alive certainly provides some insight into how this Laurel turned evil.

Like Caitlin and Iris on The Flash, the Earth-2 version of Laurel has provided a lot more shading and nuance for the character. While Laurel was often the subject of fan ire in the early years, Black Siren has the potential to be a formidable foe and perhaps even a complicated ally.
