New ‘Arrested Development’ Season 4 Stills & Character Posters

2 years ago by

Arrested Development season 4 is a little less than a month away from its release, so fans can probably expect to see quite a bit more in the way of official media releases – photos, posters, trailers, and the like – in the next 32 days.

And, speak of the devil, Netflix has just unleashed a torrent of new character posters, stills, behind the scenes photos, and more to ramp up the season 4 publicity fervor. Plus, find out what creator Mitch Hurwitz, Will Arnett (GOB Bluth), and Jason Batemen (Michael Bluth) had to say about the new season storyline and format.

Check out the character posters (courtesy of the Arrested Development Facebook page) and stills (courtesy of Entertainment Weekly) in the gallery below:

The character posters showcase all the main Arrested Development characters and a corresponding quote that seemingly references something unique about each character (be it a running joke or a personality trait).

Allow us to break them down for you:

  1. Michael Bluth is always trying to keep the family together.
  2. George Michael (Michael Cera) is reserved, shy, doesn’t want to be an inconvenience.
  3. GOB is very adamant that magicians perform illusions, not tricks.
  4. In prison, George Bluth (Jeffrey Tambor) was constantly plagued by the “no touching” rule in the meeting area.
  5. Lucille (Jessica Walter) was once a patron at a chain diner where she was asked, and I quote, “Plate or platter?” (She didn’t understand the question, and she refused to respond to it.)
  6. Buster (Tony Hale) likes to say, “Hey, brother” to his brothers.
  7. Lindsay (Portia de Rossi) typically attempts to use her sexuality to her advantage, though never successfully.
  8. Tobias Fünke (David Cross) is a total blowhard.
  9. And Maeby (Alia Shawkat)…well, I don’t know. She’s feisty, I guess?

As for the still photos – they’re all great, but the one with GOB, Lindsay, and Tobias on the couch pretty much singlehandedly assuaged any fears I had (which, to be honest, were few and far between) that the principal actors couldn’t convincingly get back into the swing of these characters. Will Arnett’s body language and facial expression are quintessentially GOB. The same goes for David Cross and, to a lesser extent, Portia de Rossi.

Oh, and did you notice that Tobias is wearing Lindsay’s Shémale shirt in the photo?

NEXT PAGE: Are Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen playing themselves playing Lucille and George Bluth in the movie version of the Bluths’ lives within the ‘Arrested Development’ universe? (You, sir, are a mouthful!)

  1. Since this is netflix and not a “network” will there be any censorship. I don’t see why they would be.

    • I think the censorship made it funny. I hope they keep it.

      • I agree…
IMO even something as small as bleeping curse words and blurring nudity would help the new season blend with seasons 1-3.

        • Totally agree. The movie should utilize bleeping, too.

  2. omggggggggggggggg

  3. I thought each episode as going to be centered around one character? That was the only reservation I had about season 4. But if multiple characters are appearing in episodes I’m good.

    • Yeah, each episode is centered on one character’s POV, but other characters will appear in those episodes.

      • I think for some folks when they heard that each episode would focus on one character they thought it meant that other characters won’t appear.
It’s understandable but I never interpreted it that way.
One of the many and IMO the best parts of Arrested Development was watching the Bluth’s interact with each other.
I can see a point when maybe we don’t always see everyone but IMO without all of the Bluth’s there’s no point to the show.

        • Definitely. I mean, if they were just sort of doing small shorts or something as an intro to the movie, I guess I’d be cool with just following a single character. But with 15 full (?) episodes, we’ve gotta see the Bluths interacting.

          • I don’t think we are going to see every single Bluth in each episode though. I think Hurwitz or Howard said in an interview that as these episodes are just to show where they’ve all been for the past 10 years, they will lead into a proposed movie where they will all re-unite with each other.

I could be wrong, and they could have changed it, but I think you’ll only get a few Bluths interacting at a time.

            • Yeah, that’s true, I don’t think they’re ALL together in any single episode – though maybe the final episode? Can’t remember precisely.

  5. Hey, what’s wrong with Lindsay’s face in the picture of her with Tobia and Gob? Did she get victimized by Frankenstein or what?

  6. The character posters are great
