After his turn as Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin, Arnold Schwarzenegger is open to playing another movie supervillain. Warner Bros. may just be starting what they plan to be a long line of films that make up the DC Extended Universe, but this is hardly the first time many of these characters have been brought to life on the big screen. Their two headliners, Batman and Superman, have each led multiple movies over the years, with Richard Donner's Superman and Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight largely deemed the best movie for each. While both have already been featured prominently in the new DCEU, the studio has introduced new iterations of the characters.

As the DCEU progresses, there is a strong chance that other characters, namely villains, will once again be brought to life on the big screen. Whereas Heath Ledger's Joker is still the performance to beat, there are a number of characters that can be served much better in a second attempt. Batman & Robin specifically has a number of cringe-worthy villains, led by Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze. Well, with a number of new villains set to populate these future films, the former Terminator is hoping for another shot.

Schwarzenegger was asked if he would be interested in returning to the superhero world recently by Fandango, and even though the reaction to his Mr. Freeze has not become more well-received over time, he's open to another opportunity. He says if the project is great and well-written, he would love to take on another member of Batman's famed rogue gallery.

Absolutely! I think all of those movies, if they're written well, they're entertaining. If it's Batman or Batman and Robin, or X-Men or Spider-Man - all of them. If they're written well, they have a great life. People enjoy them, and you can see the grosses that they make worldwide. So, yes, of course I would.

There is no telling whether or not Schwarzenegger will ever have the chance to live out this dream, but if he is open to it, the chances are definitely higher. His performance in Batman & Robin may have left a bad taste in the mouth of its viewers, but he is hardly the only thing wrong with that movie. As it stands today, he is still one of the most recognizable actors in Hollywood and as studios continue to look for big stars to join these mega-franchises, it is almost surprising Schwarzenegger hasn't been swooped up already.

With his interest now public, it remains to be seen whether or not he could fit into a role within the DCEU. Matt Reeves has recently taken over control of The Batman that there is no clear direction that the film is taking just yet - so much so in fact that Joe Manganiello isn't sure if Deathstroke will appear. It is always possible that Reeves could now find a way to work a role for Schwarzenegger into his film, but the director appears determined to make his vision, so there could simply not be a role for the actor.

Even if a movie within the future Batman franchise does not have a role for Schwarzenegger, there could be another place for him in the DCEU. In fact, previously it was discovered that both Geoff Johns and Patty Jenkins followed him on Twitter sparking speculation he could have a role in Wonder Woman. Johns' Twitter activity specifically has revealed people who came to be involved in the DCEU, so Schwarzenegger could very well already have a role locked in place, and is simply just teasing it now in the press.
