Vic, you need to consult a trained health care professional about this. It’s lasted more than four hours by now. You don’t want to break anything bro.

Like I said before Vic 72 mil opening weekend.

I think that was what I said. Anyway that’s what I think it will bring in.
I’d like to hear other readers thoughts on how much it will make opening weekend.

And keep the IRON MAN info coming Vic. Bring it,!!!
As we can see they sure have a lot of stuff in this film!!!
I hope that Screen Rant focuses its powers (ah 2 weeks after the release) on when IRON MAN 2 is coming out!!!!!

Jimmy The C, what the *#£¤ are you talking about?? :-)

this is interesting Vic, 790,
bcause my low estimate has been 57 million.
my highest was 71 million .
It looks like i might be close either way.

I think Jimmy the C is comparing the effect of male enhancement drugs on ‘a certain part of the male body’ (to use one corny ad slogan as an example) with the effect he sees these Iron man clips possibly having on Vic - by using the same accompanying warning the former comes with. Clever.

Right on Gary.
Its gonna be big. It could even blow 80.

Speed Racer is (IMO) going to just be huge!!!!! As well !!!!

why not a low estimate of of 57.5 mill and a high of 70.5? what are you guys even talking about?

The trailer is cool, I hope its not a disappointment, so far every terrence howard scene has been stupid. “that’s hot”?

I don’t know guys; with a midnight showing, I would not be surprised if it hit 100m the first weekend.

790, I’m looking forward to seeing Speed Racer but my co-workers think it will bomb. I think they are misguided. :o)

790 said,

Hey John. I would be real shocked if Speed Racer Bombs.
Get ready to laugh at your co_workers.

Gary said,

in order for it to hit 100 million the rest of the world or at least the rest of the country has to be as excited about the film as we are.
i just dont see that much buzz for it.
It took a few years to top Spider Mans numbers, its not an easy thing to do.
I remember more the a few people thought Batman Begins To make $150 million in its first five days. The movie opened to respectable but not spectacular numbers .
what I am really worried about is that I believe the focus of this film is character over action .
and the bulk of the action is in the last 30 minutes
and i think that could affect the box office for the second week.
we shall see .

Gary, what you saying makes a lot of sense, but I hope you are wrong.

790, I tried to reason with them but you know how hard it is trying to use logic with non-nerds. :o)

I stopped watching with the previous trailer.

Sheesh - by the time this comes out there won’t be anything left to see.

Tell me about it John you shoud see the (lifeforms) I work with…..:¤

790 said,

Well Cannuk the film has four real strong (action packed)acts from what I can determin from the trailers. Each ones roughly 30 min long 2hrs total *aprox*
Must have been fun to write the screenplay for this because it practically writes itself.

There’s a Iron Man poster up on every bus bench here in LA right now. I think there doing the marketing real well. They need to keep up with the trailers too.
Keep up the buzz for the non fans.

Gary I understand what you’re saying, but without characters that the audience cares about, action is meaningless.

Gary said,

oh i agree Vic ,
I WANT the accent to be on character.
I just think a lot of people are expecting
a full out non stop action blast bcause frankly thats all thats being advertised.

April 11th, 2008
Oh, ok… I read you. Actually I think the earlier trailers and clips highlighted more of the character aspect than the later ones. No doubt because they have the VFX work completed, now.

I think it’s going to work though. I really do think this is going to live up to Favreau’s original description: Tom Clancy meets James Bond, and throw in superpowers. :-)

Gray, I think that there is going to be action scenes before the final act. We have the Mark I against the talibans, the test of the Mark II, the Mark III fighting in the burning zone and the Mark III fighting against that machine shown in the trailer.
I can’t wait to see it, I just only hope to see finally a superheroe kicking terrorist’s ass.

Anyone else agree that at the end of the movie, they will unveil a new set of armor that will either not be used at all, or just be used once? Just to hint at further adventures & show that Stark will continue modifying the armor?

NO SPOLIERS if you happen to be privy JUST CONJECTURE

790 said,
April 12th, 2008

Good conjecture Jimmy The C, I think that could happen.
The Mark 3 is deffinitly going to need a wash after kicking Mongers aft section.

790 said,

Nonamed One, yes yes yes.
I expect the muslem groups will come out denouncing Iron Man,,, yes yes yes!!!!
Because that will make even more folks go and see it.

Cause we all hate terrorists. Hahha. Screw you talliban. There’s a new man in town and he don’t read no koran.

Jimmy the C, I suspect War Machine or the Hulk-Buster Armor might be revealed. Terrence Howard is playing the character who becomes War Machine, so maybe his role will be bigger in future releases.

Yeah there’s so many different Iron Man suits. I think there’s like 10 different ones in the comics.

Btw, I saw some of the new Iron Man action figures at the Grand Slam convention yesterday and theres a figure for every suit. Mark 1-3 and Iron Monger. It looks like Iron Monger has a cockpit. The thing is so huge in the film but the Action figure is only a little bigger than the Mark 1. I had to look at the box because Monger and Mark 1 looked the same….there’s also a mark 3 figure that has detachable face plate and different weapons.

790 said,

I’m bettin will see the steath armor after the Mark 3.

790 said,

Pretty sure will see the birth of SHIELD as well in the film.

Gary said,
April 14th, 2008

Right now, i will settle for seeing The birth of Iron Man .
my guess is the stealth armor comes in the sequel.
Because if it were in this film,
wouldnt they be marketing the heck out of it?
The stealth armor is extraordinarily COOL!
