I’ll shamelessly admit to having somewhat enjoyed the first one and I was curious about the second but all of the casting and script problems haven’t really helped the project along and this title is just more crap added to the pile. It’s too bad they couldn’t get Jane back. He was awesome.

That is weird, because the last one was based on the Welcome Back Frank story line.

I think the new guy will do well, and I didn’t realize the first film was based on that storyline… that makes it doubly weird that they’d use that working title for this one!

Well what’s going on is Marvel’s try’n to make up for all the less than stellar movies they’ve made. I guess that includes the Punisher. The first one wasn’t all that, even though Thom Jane was good in the role. So even though it’s tenatively considered to be a sequel,I bet that it’s the start of a brand new Punisher franchise. Good. Maybe this will be as good as the Hulk reboot, which for a while people thought was going to be a sequel to that Ang Lee travesty. Maybe a Daredevil rebooted franchise is in the works? I betcha it is. I certainly hope it is,and if it is,I expect it to be a good movie and for DD to sport his original costume.

I think it’s gonna throw non-comic fans off, that was my first reaction. Other than an officer (or is it FBI agent) with the name Soap, there’s nothing else remotely like Welcome Back, Frank the comic, which I read, what, 7 or so years ago (12-issue mini).

The three characters, (Spaker) Dave, the chick and Blumpo (or whatever) were definitely from Welcome Back, Frank, but that was about it. At least that I can remember. Oh, and The Russian.I loved how Frank killed him in the comic–shoving Mr. Blumpo or Blimpo on The Russian and jumping on top of him. GREAT STUFF! The issue at the zoo was the BEST.
