It is said here…: http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/archive/2007/02/26/toon-tuesday-again.aspx
…that WALL-E’s “proudest possession is an old VCR. On which he plays — over and over again — a VHS copy of “Hello, Dolly !”

Hello, Dolly is live-action, so I bet that will be the live-action. Glad I could help. :)

I saw that footage and it was fantastic. It must have been more than 5 minutes long, and despite the fact that there was no dialog, the story within that segment was conveyed perfectly.

It looks very different from the Disney-esque type of stuff they’ve done in the past and I’m really looking forward to yet another brilliant Pixar movie.

Glad you and Vic got to see this to fill the rest of us in.

I am a little concerned upon reading today that Ratatouille is suffering a 10% drop in revenue from last year’s “Cars”, despite the big upturn in critical and public response (from those who ventured to see it) over “Cars”. Analysts are saying that it’s due to the glut of CGI animated movies, but I surmise it’s rather the fault of whoever decided to pick the weekend between Die Hard and Transformers to release the movie.

In any case, Wall-E on the surface is a riskier gamble for Pixar given the lack of dialog (lucky for me, I like it when studios take risks like this, instead of merely pretending to be so by injecting a few more f-bombs and sexual gratuity).

Even if a risk turns out not to pay off, I give points for trying something unexpected and new, and as long as Pixar continues to take risks, I will continue to be a fan of the studio.

Wow! SO jealous you guys saw all the WALL-E stuff at Comic-Con, it sounds amazing. I love the idea of limited dialog as the story is illustrated through spectacular animation and sound affects. (compliments of the guy who did the sounds for Star Wars) What’s his name??

Just dug it up, his name is Brett Burtt. Clearly hes a master of his craft. Really like those promotional Wall-E postcards they handed out at Comic Con. Anyone want to mail me some? :)
