There’s a new teaser trailer out for the Guillermo del Toro horror movie The Orphanage. While the poster is pretty cool (click on the image for a larger version), the trailer is completely vague about the plot of the movie and it has a typical cheesy whispery/raspy voiceover.
Here’s the description of the movie, which you’d never gather from the trailer below:
Laura purchases her beloved childhood orphanage with dreams of restoring and reopening the long abandoned facility as a place for disabled children. Once there, she discovers that the new environment awakens her son’s imagination, but the ongoing fantasy games he plays with an invisible friend quickly turn into something more disturbing. Upon seeing her family increasingly threatened by the strange occurrences in the house, Laura looks to a group of parapsychologists for help in unraveling the mystery that has taken over the place
I hope the movie turns out to be better than this teaser.

This horror film was produced in Spain and is generating alot of buzz in the film biz.
Guillermo del Toro “Pans Labyrinth” produces but does not direct.

I’m very interested, Toro growing into a very reliable as a director and producer.
Yep del Toro non-mainstream movies are very good. PL is a classic.
The Orphanage does indeed sparkle and shine. It’s classy and moody and well acted (particularly the lead actress) and has one of the best Jump Scares (a well earned one) that I’ve seen in years.
