Updates of Solace
Written on April 4, 2008 by Jamie Williams
I'm actually counting down the days till the newest James Bond installment Quantum of Solace opens - that'd be November 7th here in the U.S.
Yes, Casino Royale and Daniel Craig's Bond were really that great.
Along with cool new pictures, USA Today has some new information regarding said film.
So what's the mind set of our hero? According to 007 himself - aka Daniel Craig:
He's damaged and he wants revenge. And that's another facet of somebody, and it's not a good emotion to have. You've got to see how he deals with it. Last time around, it was just duty and duty alone. This time around, there's a sense of revenge. That's how he's going to screw up. Because he will — but then he gets up and gets it right."
It's good to know they're sticking with the physical and emotional vulnerability of Bond established from Royale.
This is a character whose scared by what he's seen and lived through during his relatively young life - i.e. he's around his late-30s to early-40s. One doesn't become calculating and cold-blooded over night.
Also don't be surprised if the next Bond outting becomes another "stand-alone plot," although that's not written in stone.
Personally, I think Craig's James Bond films will be closely connected to one another. Plus, he's supposedly re-upped his contract to five films.
Oh, and the "terrorist organization" that Bond is hunting down; it has a name: Quantum.
Lastly, don't expect new love interests for Mr. Bond this time around from co-stars Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton.
Straight outta Craig's mouth:
"He has one relationship in this movie, a kind of fling. It's mutually beneficial."
I like what I'm hearing so far. Then again, I am biased.
As my buddy Phil Gee accurately put it, "Please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck..."

Sweet. I'm really looking forward to this one and the one that follows. Seems like each movie will bring us closer to the classic and well known Bond from the 60s.

Yeah I don't think its possible for this film to suck.
Great news that's he's on board for 5 more films. Wow.
So we know what Quantum stands for but it still makes no sense to me?.....
Unless Solice is a location or town???
Wow, wonderful news. I was really impressed with Casino Royale, I'm glad their sticking to their guns for the sequel.
Craig is the best Bond since Connery.
I enjoyed Brosnan as Bond ; he pulled off the suave swagger stuff rather well but he never seemed all that tough ( or scary).
Craig ( like Connery before him ) does the tuxedo stuff very well and is ( in my opinion ) very believable at the tough guy stuff.
I loved Casino Royale , although I felt that movie stumbled a bit in the final third of the story , way too much emotional chit chatty crap. However , everything else about the film was soooo good that I still loved it .
I'm quite eager to see Craig get back to being 007 !!!!!!!!!!

I'm a hater.
Sorry, Jim, I'm with Rasta on this one: Best Bond since, and most similar to, Connery.

Casino Royale is easily the best Bond film. I was skeptical about Craig until I saw him. He nailed the role perfectly. Can't wait for Solace. I dig the title too.
Liked the chase scene.
Hated the card scenes.
Still trying to forget the torture scene.
The card scene was definitely the most boring part of the film and I noted that in my review. I don't know how World Poker Tour on TV could be so much more exciting than a poker scene in a Bond movie. :-)

I've always loved Bond and read the books, but for me Casino Royale was up a level on everything before, and I do mean everything. I really liked Brosnan as Bond and enjoyed those movies, but since Royale I've seen his ones and found them almost cheesy in comparison.
Love Bond movies but never felt compelled to buy them, although often on tv in the UK. However I am going to buy Royale, at some point. It was just an excellent movie and Craig was great. I saw it yesterday and the chase with the bombmaker is fantastic, and yet the ending, where he faces off with the guards, was the perfect climax.
