The UK Sun has reported that Daniel Craig has been chosen to be the next James Bond, having been offered a three-picture deal by Barbara Broccoli, the current producer of the series.
I mentioned a while back that Craig was one of two finalists for the role. According to The Guardian, Clive Owen turned it down due to his fear of being stereotyped.
I notice the source article does not explicitly mention that Craig has accepted, but I believe a bonafide offer of a three-picture deal is as solid as the word has been in regards to the rumour mill surrounding the next Bond.
Personally I think any of the names floated for the role would do… what I’m hoping is that Casino Royale (the next Bond film) will actually take place in the 1950’s or 60’s. I think Pierce Brosnan was born to play the role, but for some reason the recent films haven’t worked for me within the modern day context.

Then I am glad if this is indeed true. I just recently discovered Craig and I can only say OMG. I love him.
Does it matter? The Bond franchise is so stale and overdone, it sucks. I used to be a huge fan and I own all of the movies, but it has been done to death. The Broccolis, who own the rights, are fools. They insist that it has to be done by a British or Australian director, heaven forbid they get a different take on the character. They turned down Spielberg and Tarantino, they haven’t got a brain in their head. They should have let Tarantino do it and set it in the fifties or sixties. I agree with Vic on that.
I am from Australia and i think Australian directors and australian made movies are really good. i mean have you ever seen The Castle.

I think you should have given James Purefoy a shot at being 007. He is Pierce Brosnen, Sean Connary and Roger Moore all in one. What a great combination.

I think that the Broccolis have set there selves up, they bring bond back give the part to an actor who has made him come alive again, and who has made them alot of money and this is how they repay him I think that Pierce Brosnan deserves every penny that he has asked for, when there are lots of actors getting far more money then he has. Pierce bought Bond back from the dead for me anyway.
