Over at MTV Movies they seem to have confirmed that not only does Hillary Swank have a cameo in Iron Man, but so does Samuel L. Jackson.
Although they only state explicitly that Swank is confirmed, from reading producer Avi Arad’s comment over there it certainly seems like Sam Jackson is confirmed as well.

When asked about Hillary Swank’s appearance in the film, reportedly Arad replied:
“How do you know [about that]? … It’s a cameo.”
This was followed by:
“The Sam thing was supposed to be the biggest secret of them all… it’s amazing how it got out.”
Yes, our spies are everywhere.
Hey Avi, don’t get mad it me - I’m not the one who broke either the Hillary Swank or Sam Jackson news.

Any ideas on who they’re playing, SHEILD agents?
It’d certainly be a nice surprise if we didn’t know, wouldn’t it…?
But, alas, these are the days of the internet.
I mean, look what happens when secrecy is a larger concern than plot and substance: the Star Wars prequels.

Director Jon Favreau is very guile with his word usage.
Remember Jon Favreau wrote:

(Well, maybe one is true.)
JFavs DIDN”T SAY that Sam Jackson is not Nick Fury OR that Swank ISN’T Black Widow, he just said that their NOT Shield Agents (yet?).
I believe that Vic has seen JFav acting as security in the last film.
Shouldn’t Black Widow be a cool Russian (or at least Eastern European) chick instead of Hillary Swank?
Sam Jackson is obviously Nick Fury, right.. the comics rendition of the Ultimates’ Nick Fury seems to be based on Sam Jackson..
