So the next to last season (as far as I know) is off and running. I really thought this was kind of a throwaway episode, which is a bummer considering what a cliffhanger the season five finale was. Overall I was pretty disappointed, although I think the season as a whole holds some promise.
I don’t want to get into any spoilers here, but of COURSE Clark escapes from the Phantom Zone (which turned out to be more than just a crystal flying through space). However the way in which he escapes was pretty weak in my opinion. Actually it was extremely weak… and then the way that Zod is defeated… yup, you guessed it: weak.
At the very least I was hoping that considering the fact that Lex/Zod explained to Lana about Krypton and the like that at least we would FINALLY have Lana find out about Clark’s powers. But no, in the most cliche’d way you’d expect, she conveniently gets knocked out just as Clark appears on the scene. I really couldn’t believe that the writers actually wrote that. Yeesh.
Anyway, at least at the end of the episode we see that this season will be headed in a different direction, with Clark struggling with the fact that he is running out of people to turn to that he can really confide in.
Personally I think that the writers painted themselves into such a tight corner with the previous season finale that they had to really stretch to write themselves out of it.
Oh well… here’s hoping that the season gets better and that Clark finally gets a hang of the darned flying thing.

I agree…weak. I was saying to myself at the end: that’s it? well, that was…easy. Right before the big confrontation, I turned to my husband and said “Lana’s about to be knocked unconscious.” If it wasn’t so obvious, and been done at least once per episode, I would’ve felt pretty proud of my predictive abilities.

I just wish they hurry up with clark superman suit at least once before the show goes off and that more people find out about his secret and what they think when they find out. You know like Lana, Lex, and Louis it would be nice and maybe add Bruce Wayne to the show like they have a few other comic members
They’ve certainly pushed it on the “no flights” thing, showing him flying, but of course he was “possessed” at the time.

caught an article saying Lana is preggars and who do you think is the dad? well ,most said Lex obviously since Lana and Clarke hadn,t been sexually active. Well i disagree cause there seems to have been a lapse in time between episodes Mortal and Hidden. When Lana and Clarke wake up together in Hidden , Lana says at one point,”I told you we should have gone to the Tallon” meaning this wasn,t their first time since Mortal when they did do it for the first time. So who knows how many weeks along Lana is with her pregnancy. Ta Da….Clarke could be the father.

As one of Smallville’s biggest fans (cliché - right?) I can agree that Lana gets knocked unconscious every time an opportunity surfaces for her to learn Clark’s secret, but that DOESN’T mean the episode ’sucks’ - on the contrary if Lana knew his secret I’m sure there would be no need to continue Smallville !!!
So PLEASE refrain from saying Smallville sucks, because if that is your attitude - go watch something else, like … ??? !!! I’m guessing there’s NO substitute for Smallville - my bad !

Are you all watching the same programme as I am. I have been watching and defending Smallville forever it seems, a friend of mine who is also a Supermann fan but not Smallville has been slating the show for years calling it….wait for it….DAWSON’S CREEK………and after waiting for snipets of good moments through season 4 and 5 and 6 so far I have to agree with him….the show is a joke. Moody teenagers with the weight of the world on their shoulders, stupid convienient story lines that do not mind bending the character to shape the plot of the episode!!!! All I can say is I will watch it to the end in hope of finding those golden nugget scenes for example, Jorel scenes with Terence Stamp’s voice. The series should finish season….cut out all the crap and get to the good bit coz I cant be bothered anymore.

Hi um I think Smallville is a great show. Do you think you can make Clark fly and also can you not make Chloe die because she is just amazing to me. But my big request is can you allow Smallville to come out earlier in the summer this year. Its really hard to wait.
Zod was an anticlimactic season premiere and it was not well-thought out. The 5th season finale
had cliffhangers and this season premiere resolved them with anticlimaxes.
I think there should be a season 8 of smallville because most of the smallville fans would want it to and i Believe that clark should put the tights on if he hasnt at the end season 7.
