Am I to take it then that Rick Berman is NOT involved with ST11?
Nice :D

Vic,

Either you recently watched “The Shining,” forgot to take your meds or both. Regardless, I’m sure Berman’s lack of involvement in STXI is causing a collective sigh of relief from Star Trek fans everywhere.

I don’t know what’s wrong here. I didn’t watch Enterprise when it was on due to the fact that I didn’t have cable so I didn’t get UPN. I bought the DVDs after a friend loaned them to me and this show is great. (It’s the only Star Trek my wife will watch and she loves it). Yeah, like anything else, there are episodes that are just okay. However, Enterprise represented a real return to what TOS was.

The comparison to SG-1 is ridiculous. SG-1 is a cheesy show. The characters on SG-1 are lame compared to the Star Gate movie. I tried to watch several episodes of SG-1 and wanted to vomit.

What the hell is the matter with Star Trek fans these days? It seems that everyone is looking for anything they can bash on Star Trek instead of enjoying the essence of the show and all that it is. Please don’t call yourselves Star Trek fans, because you aren’t.

I am a huge Star Trek fan and have been since I was a little kid. As a kid, TOS made me want to be a part of Star Trek and the Star Trek universe. Enterprise has returned that feeling to me. I feel like I am a part of the Enterprise crew.

The same criticisms can be made about TOS. It had its cheesy moments. The funny thing is the cheesiest episodes of TOS are my favorites (Devil in the Dark, Arena, The Galileo Seven, etc.). Hey, the show was obviously low budget looking, but being a fan and loving the essence of the show, I didn’t and don’t care how cheesy an episode is; IT IS STAR TREK. Quit your moaning or stop calling yourselves Star Trek fans and watch Will and Grace or some other dumbass show like that.

So, Duno, how is it that you’re entitled to your opinion and I (and others) are not?

I was probably watching Star Trek before you were born, so don’t go all high and mighty on me.

Don’t you think it’s tough for a longtime fan to criticize movies and shows based on a premise they love? I’m sorry, but I’m going to call a spade a spade, and if something sucks, even if it’s Trek, I’m gonna say it.

Berman and Braga killed Star Trek and blamed the fans. “No new stories to be told” because of the number of episodes already out there, give me a friggin’ break. Look at the recent episodes of the new Dr. Who… that show’s been on longer than
Trek if I recall correctly, and although it’s cheesy as far as effects, it’s still got fresh stories.

How about soap operas? No, I don’t like them or watch them, but some of them have been on for what, 40 years straight? And that’s FIVE episodes a week? Why haven’t those writers thrown up their hands and said that “there are no more stories”?

I was totally stoked when “Enterprise” was announced, and they really could have done something amazing with it, but no, although it was 100 years before Kirk and Co., the tech was barely behind them in regards transporter tech, tiny tricorders, communicators and phase pistols. There was no sense of being on a first of it’s kind ship with things not working right or any sense of danger of using warp drive at this level for the first time.

It finally got good in the last season, when they turned over the reins to Manny Coto, but by then it was too late and everyone had jumped ship.

And look at the last movie, “Nemesis”. It sucked. Period. And B&B blame US for not showing up.

Good riddance to them.

People who swallow any Trek that’s pumped out and fawn all over it are the ones that help keep the quality down. I’ll bet you now that Paramount has seen how fans have left Trek in droves, that they’re now getting a clue that a sea change is in order. That’s why NO ONE involved in Trek up until now has ANYTHING to do with Star Trek XI.

I think that star trek is good but the movies are better than the shows. I’m just worried about Matt Damon as Kirk, I think that’s the worst casting ever and he pleaded to be in star wars as anakin skywalker
and now he wants to play kirk. That’s pethetic he looks nothing like william shatner. Come on bring someone new that looks like william shatner from the original series. The same goes for the rest of the cast. what else? Beyonce as Uhura? Or ashton kutcher as bones? BRing in good unkown look alikes for crying out loud. But if this one has known actors then they might as well say that it’s a crapy movie.

Justin I’m with you 100%. I think it’s a REALLY bad idea to bring in well-known actors to play screen icons.

Besides, at this point isn’t Damon about as old as Kirk was when he was Captain???
