From poster “Setion_Pirate” at AintItCoolNews.com in reference to the Palm d’Or award going to Fahrenheit 9/11:
“Cannes is now completely about politics instead of about good filmmaking. Cannes is dead to me. It reminds me of when the Nobel Peace Prize commitee decided to give the award to Yassir Arafat: The award means nothing now.”
Can’t say I disagree.

Yeah, hearing that Arafat had won a Nobel Peace Prize was disconcerting, but as for Moore cleaning up at the Oscars and Cannes, does that really surprise anyone? He is catering to the predominant anti-Bush faction of Hollywood without any sense of shame, and he is being rewarded accordingly. Besides, people who tell the best yarns deserve Oscars and Palme D’ors.
I wonder what previously “undiscovered truth” he’ll want to reveal to the world next. Perhaps that Chuck Barris was a hitman for the CIA…?
