A poster is out for the new Spectacular Spider-Man animated series coming to the WB network.
It looks like Marvel may finally be taking a hint from DC in the animation department, at least based on the drawing style depicted in the poster (click on the image for a larger view).

Up until recently the animation style of Marvel Universe characters brought to the small screen has been shall we say, not that great. To their credit they did come out with that brief CGI Spidey show on MTV a while back, which while different, was kind of creepy looking. They also tried for a more stylized look with the new Fantastic Four animated series, but personally I find it offensive to see the venerable FF drawn in an overtly anime style.
However I’m liking what I see in this pic and will tune in to see how it turns out.

The animation style was the best part of the Fantastic Four series. The action was so tame that the show was just pretty boring - aside from the pretty colors.
I’m not sure; not completely convinced. What I need to know is why the heck do we need SpiderMAN to have such a feminine figure? I mean seriously, check out those Hips! Yeah, Sean Galloway (Teen Titans GO!) is one of the guys doing art for this show, apparently. I’ve always loved his stuff. Hopefully the animation’ll keep the same quality.
@Chip Chief: I see what you mean, but I don’t think we exactly need to see a 200-pound brawler in tights, either.
This looks pretty good. I can’t wait to see it,when does it air? The FF cartoon is horrible! I hate the anime art style and voice direction on that show!! What is up with the Human Torch’s hair and why is his face so darn pointy? And why the heck does the Thing,who is the only half descent looking character on that show,have a painted 4 symbol on his chest? I also hate the costumes on that FF show too,I don’t understand why they have to change so many things with cartoons these days. And why is Dr. Doom depicted as having gone up into space with the FF at the beginning of the show and why is Alicia Masters black? None of that stuff was in the comic book. The new Spidey art style looks good but it could be better. I think a more Steve Ditko-ish cartoon style would work really well. Marvel really needs Bruce Timm bad. His Marvel shows would be really good. If Bruce Timm happens to be at the San Diego comic-con this year and any of you guys are going…..if you happen to run into him please ask him for me if he’d ever consider doing work for Marvel some day soon……cuz I won’t be able ta make it this year.
hope its going to be great to bring back the souls of Spiderman. For that we will need Christopher Daniel Barnes. We really need his voice as Spiderman and Peter Parker. His voice is superb; he is the diamond to polish Spiderman. We really need him.

I must say the 94-1998 Spiderman: Animated series was awesome. I use to love that show and to be honest I still do. The opening theme is very gripping; the show magnetizes you immediately. Since then no other Spiderman serial has been able to beat the one I prefer. I really admire that show, its great. From the look of ‘The Spectacular Spiderman’ promotional poster I will have to say it looks very similar to ‘The Batman’ series. It looks really fine. The poster also sort of gives you the idea of the villains in the show. I mean it tells you of the villains that will definitely be in the show. Looking at the poster you can see The Sandman is going to be in the show in view of the fact that his huge fist stands out. You can also see Vulture wandering up in the sky in shadows. There are too many to mention. There are others of course but I won’t write about them just know. All I am going to say is the show needs Christopher Daniel Barnes as Spiderman/Peter Parker. His voice is excellent and Spiderman needs him and so does Peter Parker. I really wish for him to back somehow. We need him, we really do. Overall, hopefully the show will not be disappointing, hopefully.
