I was going to title this: Nic Cage Must Want A New House, but I might have confused people.
Cage has been doing the press rounds for National Treasure: Book of Secrets, and someone over at comingsoon.net asked him about a sequel to Ghost Rider and the opportunity of another film in the National Treasure series. He seems quite open to these, and I would be too considering that he’d pocket at least $20 million per film.
When asked about another Ghost Rider film, Cage said that “All they have to do is call, and I would love to see that happen. That would be fun,”
When asked about National Treasure he replied:
“With ‘National Treasure,’ I believe that it should become more and more ‘International Treasure,’ …I was very happy to see that we went to London, England and Paris, France, but I’d like to see the movie go wider still. I’d like to go into Africa, Egypt, Asia, and keep going. My hope is that Ben is recruited and he gets a dossier from these other countries about their history, and has to download it and learn it, and then try to go on these hunts on their behalf. That would be a lot of fun for me.”

The main word that appears in both these quotations is fun. Cage seems to be the kind of actor that chooses roles with his heart rather than for his art. With National Treasure it would also appear that he’d like a holiday or two.
I quite like Nicolas Cage, he can teeter on the brink of over-acting on occasion but I feel that he seems to enjoy his job. He doesn’t really seem to have a career plan, he’s a geek and he wears that on his sleeve. Heck, in the Windtalkers commentary he talks about dressing up as Ghost Rider for a party!
I enjoyed the first National Treasure and I do feel that it could turn out to be a fun franchise. It’s the franchise that was promised at the end of Nic Cage’s 1996 film The Rock, but that never materialized.
Ghost Rider, I haven’t seen, maybe that does deserve to burn in hell.

Ghost Rider was, IMHO, bloody awful. I have a review of it here on the site.

I’m in an American studies class, and this is like all the teachers talk about is National Treasure. I also supremely don’t like sequels. The only good sequels are movies that are planned as trilogies. That’s my problem with the hobbit, please don’t do two movies. This isn’t something you can make a trilogy out of, and it certaintly isn’t something that could get a (oh you like, heres another) sequel.

National Treasure was very entertaining and spirited, plan on seeing the second.
Ghostrider, like Vic said, was bloody awful,IMHO!
GH2 needs to be developed by a experienced horror script writer and a director that respects the character/comic enough to know that GH films should only be rated R! It will still make tons of money, just look at the success of 300.
Also in GH2, at lease one fight scenes that is not drasticly disappointing.

Have to totally disagree Ghost Rider was one of the best Marvel comics film in a while. I deffinilty like it more than the Fantastic 4 series.

LOL, thanks steve adams for the correction, don’t know where my mind went.:) IMHO, both Fantastic 4 are much better than GR, but the GR character and Hellcycle looked fantastic!
Guess that makes two of use that like Voyager.
