Actually, if you take a closer look at the trailer there IS a third suit there…right before you get your first glimpse of the Mark III armor. There’s a brief shot of a grey suit that is definitely not the same as the “clunky” suit seen earlier in the trailer.

This post needs to be locked and given an R rating.

That’s just pure PORNOGRAPHY right there!

Oh, and does anyone know if there is a larger version of the image kicking around anywhere?

Heath said,

I linked to the Superhero Hype! version, which is larger!

As much as I’d love to see the Classic IM armor,I doubt that it’ll be in the movie at all. It’s so much more technological and streamline than the MK 3 movie armor and the current comix armor,if it were the MK 2 then why would Tony even bother with a MK 3? It would seem like Tony forgot how to make a good suit of armor,IMHO. And who’s to say that the red and gold suit we’ve been seeing isn’t the MK 2 armor? That’d be cool if it was, then I’d be more willing to accept Tony building the classic armor as the MK 3. Still, this poster is uber-cool,I love how shiny the helmet is!

It’s been widely acknowledged by the creators of the film that the armor we see flying in the trailer is indeed the Mk. 3. And besides, why take a step backwards if the modern day armor is Mk. 2 and the classic armor is Mk. 3?

What do you mean “a step backwards”? Do you mean the Classic is a step backwards? The Classic armor clearly isn’t a step backwards,in fact,it’s quite the oposite. More like 5 steps forward than the current. But,I’m not sure what you’re talking about…….

I like the current armor, but the classic is 20 years old now. My choice for Mark II would be the issue 231 armor.

20 years old,and still more technologically advanced (but not as realistic) than the current. That’s a big reason why they went with an armor closer to the current than the classic for the movie, because the current IM suit in the comix is more credible.

I’d say it’s because it’s what’s in the comics, it’s been branded. They re-designed it slightly.

Nice poster.

MrMab, the armor you’re referring to in the trailer is the Iron Monger armor.

Vic

Vic is correct - that is Obidiah Stane’s suit (Iron Monger) that he creates

(if you go frame by frame, you can see Bridges with the helmet OFF on the rooftop, turning quickly away from the camera and firing a missle).

I am going to take a wild guess and figure Stane possibly steals Stark’s early designs (maybe for the Mk II armor to construct his own… but has to go up against Stark in the Mk III armor.
