I just received this image which I believe is a brand new poster for the Korean film called Dragon Wars aka D-War. You can click on the image above to see a larger version.

I haven’t heard a lot about this flick, but what I have heard has been good. I understand it was made on a very low budget but it sports some pretty cool CGI dragons and destruction. If it’s anywhere near as good as The Host, we’ll be in for a treat even if it is subtitled. ![]()
Although the first part of the trailer looks like a commercial for a video game, when it switches to present day it’s pretty damned cool:
D-War opens on September 14, 2007.

It is from Korea. I am honest to say their special affects composite looked cheep and cheesy.
I live in Korea. Dont let the poster trick you. The movie is a mess from beginning to end. Bad scripting, bad acting, plotless, and just plain aweful. The director recently said a lame comment about “independence day”, he said,”what about Independence day? Aliens come, destroy the world,we beat them, the end.” okay, that comment enough says he doesnt know what he is talking about. Independence aint great, but its fun to watch because it doesnt try to be serious. D-war tries to be serious. There is a lot nationalism surrounding this movie. So that could a reason why it has been making big bucks in Korea. Basically its un-korean, not to watch the movie. Its the first korean movie to have a American movie release I think like 1700 theaters, not a great amount, but that could change depending on Attendence. I dont predict this movie doing very well in the states. The pure awefulness of this movie has to be seen to be believed. It took 6 years to complete this project. If this is the best he can do with 6 years of work put into it, he better find another job.
Maybe it will fall under the category of “so bad that it’s fun?”

Nope, more like its soo bad its really bad. Its a real head ache of a movie. It doesnt have cult classic flavor like an “ED WOOD” movie. Ed wood was ambitious but had no idea how to make a movie. D-war, is ambitious in all the wrong areas. Ed Wood thought he was making a good story with chraracter development. D-war didnt even try. It cared too much about the CG which by the way looks like a long cut scene from a video game. D-war is just silly stuff and best avoided. There are sooo many great korean films, this just aint on of them. Just watch “the host” again. The host is AWESOME!! ^^
