and yet, there’s still no lenses in the cowel which makes him wear makeup. That’s bugged me since Batman Returns when he’s wearing eye make-up and then takes the cowel off and it magically disappears.

True. I think they leave his eyes exposed so that he can express more emotion through them. That was the problem with Spider-man and will be an issue with Iron Man and any other completely masked superhero on the big screen.

Interesting points. It would be neat to see him with some type of middle ground film or shield eye peices?

The suit looks a little too detailed I don’t see what was wrong with the last suit.
The more we go down this road the more it reminds me of the last few Batmans with all the over the top costumes.

For the most part i like the suit. I’m glad that he’s finally able to turn his head, that should make the fighting scenes better. I do wish that the symbol were a bit clearer and easier to see though.

I just wish that they had narrowed the width of his cowl so it didn’t stick out so far from the width of his neck.

Gives him a bit of a pencil-necked appearance IMHO.

If it were just all black the suit look alot lease busy. And like Brian said, wish that the symbol were a bit clearer and easier to see though.

It DOES disappear into the chest area, doesn’t it?

Can’t wait for Kel to chime in, LOL. :-)

I wish that they would give him the yellow emblem.

However, I can see why they want him to appear like Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One and to cut all ties with previous movies in the franchise.

They’ve really moved away from the rubber suit on this one.

I suppose it’s a way to sell more toys too! :-) Niall

Maby on the third batman movie they might be able to go all grey like in the comix.

It would be cool to see Batman wear the armor.
That would realy kill IM.

The black makeup is retarded, im sure Bruce spends his quality time in the mirror as he gets his costume on while ppl wait for rescue

Also, why is his head so friggen big

Actually, I read somewhere that the lenses do make an appearance in movie.

LOL,guys! Sorry I wasn’t here with my usual compaint filled rant when this was originally posted, but I was attending yet another funeral for another close family member yesterday :-( Thanx for thinking of me,Vic and Ardian, really appreciate that. The folks at this site really ARE like your family! :-D There’s so much death going around everywhere as of late. But,enough about that, here’s my thoughts on the picture:

This may surprise some of you,but this,IMHO,is THE BEST picture of the new suit I have seen so far. Not to say that I like the suit, but it looks far better than what I had seen in earlier photos.

I like the fact that the suit has FLEXIBLE (that’s VERY important, folks) chainmail like material running running throughout and behind some of the clunky plastic pieces of “armor”,it looks so much more comfortable and pratical that way. But,the suit STILL isn’t as flexible or authentic as it should be,and its still got TOO many pieces of overly detailed, busy looking plastic crap ALL OVER IT. I HATE how FAT his head looks, and how the chainmail runs up into the neck of the cowl (which STILL looks TOO PLASTIC). The bat symbol on his chest is FAR TOO SMALL,it’s barely noticable. If they were going to have the suit look so overly detailed then they should have added the yellow ellipse behind the bat symbol on his chest. The belt looks good tho,and the cape looks good too (I’m surprised THAT doesn’t have little plastic peices of crap scattered all over it). And yes,he’s still got that STUPID make up! Yeah, that’s REALLY realistic,in fact so much more than the comix style costume >sarcasmLOL,guys! Yeah, that’s REALLY realistic,in fact so much more than the comix style costume >sarcasm< . Yeah, right. The gloves are absolutely horrible. Just horrible. I can’t even put into words how sickened I am by them. I like the idea of the chainmail tho. If anything’s to be appreciated about this suit it’s the idea of what looks to be an attempted departure from the black rubber look that’s plagued the batsuits in every Batman film since the 1989 Burton flick (which I loved,I just have a bone to pick with the suit and the Joker’s murdering of BW’s ma and pa). The batsuit should be black and gray on the areas that it’s black and gray in the comix (I know you guys are tired of me saying that, but hopefully someone will get the picture someday). I’m not saying tights,I’m just saying something that’s authentic and respectful of the comix, yet at the same time believable. For a Batman movie costume,IMO,they should make the gray areas on the suit that are gray in the comix out of gray chainmail (like the chainmail material on the suit in the picture) and have a different type of material for the black areas on the suit;the gloves, boots, leotard, and cape and cowl should all be made out of the same black, FLEXIBLE material. Keep the hard, unflexible plastic like piece in the front of Batman’s cowl on his forehead area and bat-ears,and keep the rest of the cowl made out of the same material that the cape and etc are made out of. This way Batman will be able to turn his head AND he’ll still be able to bash bad guys with his forehead without it getting hurt. And obviously the suit will be bullet proof from the chest area on down throughout the rest of the body like it usually is,and it (along with the rest of the suit, cape and all) will be shock and flame proof to a degree. Keep all the yellow areas on the suit (if they go with the chest bat symbol that has yellow the ellipse around it) the same color as the belt is in the picture. Do that and you’ll have made a very sensible, respectful, Batman movie costume that most people will enjoy.;-)

Now,for those of you who say that the filmakers went with an all black look for the Batman movie suits because it’s realistic,I’d like to share a thing or two with you. The only reason why the batsuits have been made completely black and out of rubber was not because it was realistic, but becuause that was the way Tim Burton preffered the suit to look when he was working on the Batman films. It was nothing more than a fashion statment, that has unfortunately stuck with us ever since. Had it been about realism, the suits would have NO yellow “utility belt” (I’m sure they’d call it something else if they’d have even used it) or bat symbol on the chest,Batman would have a cowl that covered his face COMPLETELY with little lenses to shield his eyes,he would have NO CAPE and would instead have an overcoat that had a long back to it with scallops on the end of it (like Batman’s cape does),he wouldn’t have knee high boots and scallops/fins on his gloves, and the suit would be all one color. And he CERTAINLY wouldn’t be wearing EYE MAKEUP!!!!!!! You’ve got to draw a line with what’s realistic and respectful of the comix with these movies, otherwise you’ll lose what’s made the character(s) so interesting in the first place. If you don’t,you’ll find yourself asking questions like “why does Superman need to have a cape and wear red and blue?” and “why red and gold for Iron Man?” and “why does Spider-Man stick to walls with that costume on?” and “if Capt. America’s a soldier then why does he wear bright,un-camoflouge colors?” and “why would someone as powerful as a superhero is wear tights?” and “why should the Hulk be green?” the questions will go on and on until you’ve stripped the characters completely of what makes them so iconic and recognizable. So,back to Batman, you see,the producers and CO. are under the impression that the only way to do a Batman film is with a suit that is somehow similar to the one Burton used. It’s almost been stereotyped that way. Hopefully one day they’ll get some sense and go for something more in line with what I suggested (not that I’m the best person to make decisions, but come on! When are they gonna move on?).

Sorry for the uber-long comment,if you read it thanks. Sorry if anything’s not spelled right or messy. I didn’t proof read this one. :-/ :-D

Endri, the only way Batman could defeat Iron man is,just like with everyone he faces,if he’s prepared or out smarts them. If not,he’s as good as dead.;-)

The bat symbol should be changed over to a gold metallic background with a black bat symbol when him becomes the commissioner in the 3rd movie installment.Made out of aircraft aluminum with a GPS that can home to the batcave alerting Alfred.Ditch the black eyeshadow, narrow the eye slits that have a clear polarized lens pop over that can change with the light.Similar to the new flight helmet used on the F-35 that can see through dense smoke, pitch dark.It would drive fear even the best boy grip would have a gauno moment!

‘Pardon the typo on the word’him’ I meant Jim Gordon!Remember Frank Miller’s ‘Dark Knight Returns’ and Batman says under his breath about the yellow and black symbol was a shield when a bullet hit him.It should at least stand a 7.62 mm round point blank.

my only complaint about chris nolan’s batman suit is that his cape looks like a long black 3′ wide bath towel, then spreads 7′ in each direction when expanded. it should be big even when its just hanging. but i dig the detail and the ability to move his neck, but the suit should be black instead of a dark gunmetal color. or maybe even leave the color but make the symbol black.
