I have always likened the host of the Oscars to a judge in a courtroom. The host should be mostly impartial (except for a few wisecracks every now and then), and shouldn’t care who wins or loses. Rock’s comments are out of line, and could be construed as an an inappropriate attempt to influence the outcome, although I seriously doubt that’s what he’s trying to do.

Rock should find it humbling that he’s only hired for such gigs because other people either passed or had other commitments. It’s a big leap from the MTV Video Music Awards to the Oscars, and someone as experienced as Rock should understand that there’s a fine line between edgy and obnoxious.

I think Chris Rock is a breath of fresh air for the Oscars this year. Its about time somebody comments about hollywoods fake image, its not what its seems. I loved how he made fun of Catherine Zeda Jones Versace dress and Hollywoods A list stars like Jude Law and Nicole Kiddman. Why does the Oscars have to be so fake year afer year with its cookie cutter image. Times are changing and so should the Oscars, thank you Chris Rock!
