According to a couple of items from Superman-V.com, there is a light shining through the darkness that is the upcoming Superman movie. Apparently Warner Brothers execs did not like the laissez-faire attitude towards pre-production that McG was demonstrating and have replaced him with…. Michael Bay.
Of course handing the reins of this iconic film character to almost anyone but McG can only help things, but Bay could be a very good thing indeed. The man is known for blockbuster films, and he’s been known to put a patriotic spin on things as well. These two could make a great combination for Superman 5.
Now if he can only do something about that horrid script….

McG is the man to call when you want a movie that doesn’t take itself seriously and just lets the audience have fun. Michael Bay is the man to call when the special effects and slo-mo action sequences are more important than the storyline. Either way, I’m not impressed. At least with McG, there’s some hope for creativity… I don’t know. Somehow, I don’t think I’ll be in a hurry to see this when (if?) it comes out.

I don’t know… at least Bay will inject *some* substance into it. My impression of McG is that he is all about the visuals and “cool factor”. I can’t imagine him approaching a project with any kind of seriousness.
Michael Bay would not have been my first pick, but he’s not the worst choice. Shyamalan was supposedly somewhere in the “possible director” list, but I don’t think his style would be appropriate.
I’m not very director-centric so I couldn’t tell you who my preference would be. Who do *you* think would be a good choice for Superman 5?

Call me unoriginal, but isn’t Richard Donner still alive and kicking someplace? Of course, he would demand a quality script, so that might shoot that idea right out the window.
