I gotta tell ya… the ONLY reason I’m hanging in there with Lost is that I’m a coward. I’m afraid that the week after I stop watching there will be some huge revelation that will finally make sticking with this damned show worthwhile.
In the meantime, we continue to suffer…
At the end of last week’s episode, the TV version of “Movie Trailer Announcer Guy” says dramatically that three mysteries will be revealed in this week’s episode.
Yeah, right.

First of all, somebody help me out, because I did NOT see the answers to three mysteries. Maybe I blinked and missed them. What we DID see revealed was… are you ready?
The mystery of how Jack got his tattoo.
Stop laughing, I’m not kidding.
What? Isn’t that one of the HUGE things that fans of this show have been dying to find out all this time? Who cares about who “The Others” are, really, right? Why are they living on the island? Why the heck were they holding Jack, Sawyer and Kate?
All insignificant in the face of the mystery of Jack’s tattoo.
Un-freaking-believable. Not only is that what’s revealed, but it takes them an ENTIRE episode of drawn out flashback scenes to do it. Just like last week, it took them about 3X as long to give us a character’s backstory than was necessary… boring us to tears and making it feel like filler.
I need an intervention - somebody PLEASE give me the strength or a good reason to stop watching this stupid show. I mean I still have Jericho, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica and Smallville, right?

Methinks you’ve answered your own question
I don’t watch Lost, (I think I saw a single episode early on, and I just couldn’t get into it).
I do follow Heroes regularly, however. At least some answers that are promised are actually fulfilled and in fairly dramatic ways to boot. Even if the occasional episode feels like filler, the viewers are at least rewarded with actual movement in the plot department enough to justify continued viewership.
Still waiting to hear you review Heroes, by the way…
Doh!
