[3/27/07 9AM MST: UPDATED WITH ONE MORE PHOTO AND MUCH CLEARER LOOK AT THE STARK INDUSTRIES LOGO]
Here are the first batch of photos from one of the shooting sets of Iron Man provided by a visitor to Screen Rant. There are a great bunch of set shots here shot out in the desert, although no actors are present. I’ve included a close-up of the Stark Industries logo.

“Just had a nice tour of the desert/Afghanistan cave set located in a remote California desert canyon. Tons of US Military surplus relabled with ‘Stark Industries’ stickers, stenciled labels, arabic and Cyrillic writing. Everything had desert camo netting covering it. The ‘cave’ was impressive and blended very well with the natural terrain.”

Looks like the road/entrance to the enemy camp

Shot of the covered weapons cache

Miscellaneous Stark Industries supplies

Stark Industries-supplied weapon system?

Close-up of the Stark Industries logo

More SI weapons

“TOW” missle launcher

Another shot of the same weapon

Entrance to the cave where Tony Stark is being held

Label from one of the weapon containers

Some sort of manifest/list
A huge thank you to “Mojave Desert Rat” (catchy, ain’t it?) for providing these!

The photo set of ironman movies is truly cool and i hope to see more photo of the ironma movies.
demais! muito bom o cenário onde tudo começa! o filme promete ser muito massa!
So Vic, did you ever look at the animated Iron Man movie?
Yes, I did. I just never got around to reviewing it. I thought it was ok, but not great. Better than the “Ultimate Avengers” animated movies, though.
Vic
Is there a real city called Downey in Cali or is that a little homage to Robert?
Vic
One of the guys on the MySpace board (one of the few nice ones) works next to “Downey Studios” in Downey, CA; saying they are building sets for filming there. Check out downeystudios.com for more, they’re apparently using Bldg 290, home of the first Space Shuttle. I’m thinking ‘the laboratory/garage’ personally…
Hey all, I am a sergeant in the U.S. Army, and just had a comment about the two pictures above, labled “Small rocket or grenade launcher” and “Another shot of the same weapon.” These are actually pictures of a weapon formerly in use by the U.S. Armed forces. It is called a “TOW” [(T)ube Launched (O)ptically Tracked (W)ire Guided]Missile Launcher. This model can be mounted on the tripod shown in the pics or on a “Humvee” (HMMWV) More info on this weapon can be found on this website: http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/tow.htm
Thanks for the clarification! I’ve updated the description to reflect your correction.
Vic
I have a friend working on the set of this movie. The set shown in the pictures is outside a little town called Lone Pine in Ca. The rest of the movie is filmed in some hangers in Long Beach CA.
The town of Lone Pine is very small and is currently full of the crew working on this feature. Just drive down highway 395 and you can see about 25 humvees parked near the set. Its hard to miss.
Vic
i hope they do this movie right. if they do it will be awsome.
BTW, I love the comic strip on your site!
Vic
Thanks Vic. The comic is coming along nicely and gets good responces. I cant wait to see what they do with Iron man. It’s gunna be great.
All these pics were taken on Cerro Gordo Mine road about 20 miles East of Lone Pine. All the Hummers were parked at the Comfort Inn right on Hwy 395. There are several other sets in the Alabama Hills to the West and another down in Olancha.
this freekin movie looks awesome i cant wate to see it
