Fox has decided that their big summer flick Fantastic Four doesn’t have sufficient superpowers to beat the Speilberg/Cruise combo of War of the Worlds. They have (probably wisely) decided to push back the release of their superhero movie by one week, so as to not coincide with Speilberg’s July 4th opening.
From what I’ve seen in the trailers for FF, I don’t really think it matters… ![]()

I wasn’t terribly impressed by the trailer I saw for Fantastic Four, so it probably doesn’t matter when it’s released. It’s now going up against Bewitched, which makes more sense than the previous alternative. Still, it sounds like the suits know the movie is not very good and are in “damage control” mode.

Same here. Except for Chiklis (as The Thing) stopping that 18 wheeler in it’s tracks, the whole thing left me feeling like I was watching an MTV music video.

Very wise. Spielberg/Cruise is most likely gonna clobber everything in it’s way. The last Spielberg/Cruise sci-fi movie did not do Speilberg/Cruise numbers (though I liked ‘M.R.’) and I figure that will turn around this time. At least it’ll be able to knock off ‘Begins’ from the top spot that I’m sure it’ll be holding down for the 2 weeks while ‘Worlds’ is waiting to be released.
