In an interview with the L.A. Daily News Brad Bird stated that he would love to do a sequel to The Incredibles, but…
“I think there are a lot of sequels that shouldn’t have been made. ‘Jaws 2,’ for instance, didn’t benefit humanity in any way,’ opines the man who also gave us the memorable “Iron Giant.’ “The ones that work, like the second ‘Mad Max’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ — and Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 2′ is a wonderful example — have the original filmmaker involved, always saying something like, ‘If I can figure out a story as good or better than the one we did first, I’ll do it.’ That would be my prerequisite.”
I love this guy! ![]()
Hellooooo, Hollywood studio mush-heads… are you listening? Can you pay attention to someone who knows how to make movies right? Pixar, under the leadership of Bird, makes movies that are excellent AND make a ton of money. I won’t begrudge you your profits if you don’t insult me with crappy movies.
I’ll go see anything Brad Bird is involved with in a hot minute.

Cutthroat competition may abound in Hollywood, but when you start talking about truly talented people who value the quality of their work above all else, the playing field becomes much less crowded.

Yes it does, and while schlock makes money, so can the odd really good film.
Props to Brad and the few others out there like him.
