We haven’t covered much James Bond movie news recently, so here’s a recap of where thing are regarding Bond 22.
Who’s the villain?
Mathieu Amalric, a French actor who most recently appeared as a paraplegic in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.
What Ian Fleming book is the next film based on?
None. This is an original James Bond story written explicitly for this film.
Is the screenplay done?
Yes.
When does filming begin?
January 4th, 2008.
Will Bond 22 be funny?

Daniel Craig says:
“I’m not going to shy away from the fact the occasionally there should be humor. I just don’t like gags. I don’t like written gags. That’s not the way I’ve ever liked working and I don’t think that’s funny myself. The idea of having jokes in Bond I don’t think is completely wrong, but I think the jokes to need to come out tension. There needs to be moments of humor because we’ve all been sitting on the edge of our seat. I don’t think you should write gags in Bond.”

Will the writers strike affect production?
No, they already have a script completed.
Will Daniel Craig be buff again in the next film?
Yes.
Since Casino Royale was such a big success, are they going to skate on this one?
Craig says:
“Beforehand I was getting so much criticism, and I knew that we had something good to do. We had a movie that I knew deep down that whatever would happen we were going to make a good film, because we had to. The thing is, now, we’ve really got to turn out the goods, because if we don’t, then they were right. That can’t happen.”
Has Daniel Craig signed on for 4 more James Bond movies?
Contrary to recent reports, no he has not signed a contract for four more Bond films:
“I never said that…Well, that’s what’s been said, it’s not that it’s not true, because I haven’t signed up. What I’ve done is I’ve signed up on the next movie [Bond 22], after that we’ll see. That’s the way I’m doing it, and certainly it’s not four more - that’s the truth. It’s certainly not four more.”
And now you’re up to date on everything going on with Bond 22. 
This is all sounding very good to me and I’m hoping that they can make as good a movie this time around as they did with Casino Royale. Bond 22 is scheduled for release in November 2008.

Casino Royale did for Bond what Batman Begins (now officially one of my all-time favorite films) did for the Dark Knight (pun intended, since the sequel sounds awesome).

Regarding Craig’s claims that he didn’t re-up his contract, I say “Bullshit!” You can say alot of things about the Broccolis. But they’re smart enough to commit their 007s to 3 films…minimum. That’s always been the standard contract going back to Lazenby.
I can’t imagine them being dumb enough to let Craig have new individual deals per film…when he’s just about to start his 2nd outing. No way in Hell do I believe Craig on this issue.
Totally agree with you, Heath. Very much looking forward to Bond22.

I for one believe the head of MGM who first talked about Craig re-uping his contract to 5 films for ALOT more $$$. Frankly, there’s no reason to doubt the guy. Why would he purposely stir up shit?
Plus, that deal makes the most sense. The public absolutely loves Craig’s 007 (and this newly rebooted series!) And now Eon Productions will have him down until (around) 2014. Now all they’ll have to focus on is keeping the films good.
Does anybody know where they are filming the new James Bondd movie. I would love to get his autograph.
