Ah, methinks this is one of those stories that were the reason for the founding of Screen Rant: There will be a third Ace Ventura movie made, but without the centerpin of the previous two: Jim Carrey.
Oh, but wait, it gets better… see that little chubby kid in the picture? He’s the new Ace Ventura. Well technically he’s Ace Ventura Jr.

According to Moviehole, the approximately 13 year old boy in the photo (Josh Flitter) will be playing the original Ace Ventura’s son. Funny coincidence: Josh Flitter appeared in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with Jim Carrey.
Who is this kid? Besides the movie I just mentioned, he’s had co-starring roles in this list of films I’ve never seen: License to Wed, Nancy Drew, Big Momma’s House and Air Buddies.
It’s being directed by David M. Evans, who has directed a lot of kind-friendly, if not necessarily great movies. It’s being written by Jeff Sank, Jason Heimberg and Justin Heimberg, all of whom (according to IMDB.com) have never written a screenplay that has been produced as a TV episode or movie. Ruh roh, Shaggy!
As if this doesn’t all point to a clunker already, I’m assuming that Carrey will not appear in the film at all, so they’ll need some plot device to explain why his kid will be traipsing around solving some animal related mystery and although he was inspired by his dad, the dad in question is nowhere to be seen.

Hmmm, remember the last two times they’ve tried “sequelizing” a Jim Carrey movie without Jim Carrey? You don’t? You’re more than likely lucky then (’Dumb and Dumberer’ and ‘Son of the Mask’ have a 3.3 and 2.0 respectively on IMDB). ‘Nuff said…

Karryk: I thought the same thing when I read “Minus Jim Carrey.” The Mask was one of my favourite movies growing up.

OH my GOD I definently wont be watching this one if my man is not in it. Ji mCarrey is the pet detective and without him there is no reason to even watch it at all. >:( NO WAY NO HOW. I love the other 2 Ace Ventura but I am not going near this one>.

Look for this film to bomb worse than Gigli… and that’s pretty bad.
hell no jim carry made the other ace ventura movies worth watching. i am not going to watch this. what was the point in making this without jim carry
