Of all the odd places for the new trailer for 10,000 BC to premiere… CHUD.com.
According to CHUD, the trailer premiered on G4’s Attack of the Show, a painfully hip daily program covering movies, videogames, viral videos and the like. Why Warner Bros. didn’t then put it on Apple.com or Yahoo! Movies is beyond me, but anyway… It’s in Quicktime over there and if you want a more browser-friendly version you can watch the trailer in Flash below.

10,000 BC is being brought to us by the Emmerich brothers, the same folks who started off strong with the original Stargate and the fun Independence Day but then spiraled into lousiness with an American version of Godzilla and the (no doubt) Al Gore favorite The Day After Tomorrow.

If you want my opinion (and I know you do), I do believe I’m getting a bit burnt out on the ancient/fantasy CGI-generated massive vista thing. Thousands of people, huge sets that don’t exist and all kinds of ginormous critters running about.
I’m not terribly sure what the point of this movie is. Is 10,000 BC Apocalypto for the kids with big furry animals? Is it just an adventure movie / love story set in a period where they can have huge and not-yet-ancient buildings and big furry animals? Is it Quest for Fire, but with people who seem to have access to modern day grooming techniques?
Dunno. Maybe you can tell me.

I’m honestly getting kind of tired of these movies…
Frankly I’m surprised anyone even watches Attack of the Show any more. It used to be fairly entertaining, but they traded off geeky and interesting for, as you say, “painfully hip.”

These kinds of movies always go in cycles. Lord of the Rings ushered in the most recent cycle of ancient fantasy epics, then we get a gagillion knock offs, some better than others but never surpassing the one that started the rush. Then Uwe Boll finally puts his stamp on the genre and effectively kills it for the next 20 years while we all recover from our fantasy hangover.

Did the dude say “this is Sparta!” in the trailer? I coulda sworn I heard that.
And quite frankly,I can’t stand Attack of the Show. Mostly because of Kevin and Olivia,the show’s regular hosts. They’re just REAL asses,IMHO. They treat all their guests and fans like crap,just watch the show and you’ll see what I mean (I feel SO bad for that “chocolate rain” guy). Besides,they’ve NOTHING to offer comix fans other than a little “mask” icon at the bottom of the screen. Why don’t they give Blair Butler and Chris Gore more facetime? :-/ What we needs is a COMIC BOOK CHANNEL!! YEAH! All comic book related entertainment and news,ALL the time! Movies,TV shows,animated projects,news,ANYTHING pertaining to comic books/superheroes you’d be able to find on THE COMIC BOOK CHANNEL! Damn cool! Too bad it’ll never see the light of day…..:-(
