Aquaman TV Series: More Twisted Logic

Nov 14, 2005 by

AquamanI’m sorry, but I just cannot figure out how decisions are made in the TV and movie industry.

The most-watched episode of Smallville this season was the one which featured Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman). Arthur (or A.C., as he was referred to in the episode) was played by Alan Ritchson, who certainly had the look and played the part with an aggressive and confident streak which suited the character well.

So of course the just-announced series Aquaman, which will feature the title character in his 20′s and before he goes by the superhero moniker, will not have anything to do with the character who appeared in Smallville nor will it use the same actor to play the part.

Also, in order that this will make even less sense, the show is being developed by the producers of Smallville and will air on the same network.

  1. I agree, it would make more sense to cast Ritchson in the TV series, but we don’t know if he was available (or willing) to commit that much time to such a project. Besides, TV audiences have such short memories that I doubt they’ll even notice the difference — unless, of course, they’re avid readers of this site.

  2. It will be interesting to see how they handle this Aquaman’s back-story, it seems like they would be forfeiting a great deal of potential cross promotion by completely separating the new series/character from Smallville.

In any case I look forward to the new series, and hey, maybe they will do a Flash spin-off series next!

  3. I have a question….
Who played Aquaman in the original tv series?
