In two weeks, Smallville returns for its very last season. In its 10th season on air, CW and the producers of the series are doing everything they can to make the most of it for the fans and that includes bringing back many familiar faces. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, some major facts were made clear; Lex Luthor is returning to the show this season and Clark Kent will fly and will get his Superman moment.

That’s not all! Returning to the show are fan-favorite series regulars of old, including John Schneider (Jonathan Kent), John Glover (Lionel Luthor), Laura Vandervoort (Supergirl), James Marsters (Brainiac) and Michael Shanks (Hawkman). You can now add to that list Alan Ritchson who will also make appearance in Smallville season 10 as Arthur “AC” Curry (a.k.a. Aquaman).

Michael Ausiello at EW has the exclusive and his source reveals that Aquaman will make his appearance in episode 9, during the November ratings sweeps. Sadly, we haven’t seen AC since back in season 9 when his identity was made known to LuthorCorp.

Could this mean we’ll see a return of Smallville’s version of Justice League? Justin Hartley’s Green Arrow is a series regular and with Alan Ritchson returning as Aquaman, all we need are Cyborg and Impulse (The Flash). Back when the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street was doing the press rounds, I spoke with Kyle Gallner on the phone and inquired about the chances and his interest of returning to Smallville again to play the speedy character. He was clearly excited at any opportunity to do so and loved when he was on the show but he made it clear, that it’s up to the producers to give his people the call.

Could we see the Justice League again?

As for Black Canary, when our own Anthony Ocasio spoke with Justin Hartley at SDCC, he didn’t think she was returning which is unfortunate – I would’ve liked to have seen all the heroes join forces again. The ever-popular and headline-making season 6 episode/TV movie event, titled “Justice” back in was a major moment for fans of the comics and series alike and it would be appropriate to see them all together again.

Here’s hoping for the epic return of Michael Rosenbaum as Lex.

The tenth, and final, season of Smallville premieres September 24, @8pm on The CW

  1. I broke this story hours ago! Lol only kidding.

This episode is during the sweeps, which is likely to be episode 9, and Michael Shanks is going to be in the following episode, so this leads me to a possible JSA/JLA crossover. Maybe.

I cannot wait to see this season!

  2. He’s so hot.

  3. As a kid, was there anyone that actually wanted to be Aqua Man (other then aspiring Biologist)???

    • LMAO! so true!

  4. Did anyone see the Aquaman pilot? It was on sale at iTunes.

  5. Yeah I saw it, wasn’t great, oddly they gave the part of AC to Justin Hartley rather than the actor who played him in smallville.

    • Well, Justin Hartley was Aquaman before he was Green Arrow. The pilot was made years ago. When it wasn’t picked up, they decided to bring him in as Green Arrow. Then, later on, there re cast Aquaman for the show.

      • Aquaman was on Smallville a season before Green Arrow.

  6. Cool that Aquaman is coming back on smallville, really hope they get
Kyle Gallner (Impulse) back for at least 2 episodes, do it right by getting him in the famous flash costume! That be so awesome!

  7. Lex Luthor IS returning? Really? I don’t remember when they said that. I hope it is M.R. and not a stand-in like season 8.

  8. You see lex on the trailer with Clark under the tree, they are clones of lex, no word on MR coming back but the character definitely is.

    • Yeah. They said he was coming back with or without Michael. Without they’ll just stick with clones. With… well… THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

      • He should come back for it. In interviews he seems (to me) to have a ‘low priority’ opinion about it all, but IMO he should do it. Heck — bug boy is coming back!

  9. I wonder if they are going to bring back “Bizzaro” next?

  10. I think Bizarro might be back actually, the comic con trailer, there was a section for season 10 where there showed people who were returning, showed Brainiac, Lionel, Smallville High, and… Bizarro!

  11. Therein lay the success of SMALLVILLE. The program is not so much about
superheroes as it is about the interrelationship between characters. Yes, there are a number of heroes and villains who make appearances throughout the program. Yes, there are a number of action sequences and
over the top plotlines that comprise the series. In the end, however,
the success of the program centers on how it humanizes its characters
and provides them with sense of depth not seen in hero programming
    before.

  12. When’s Green Arrow gonna grow the BEARD?
