A shell company patented three terms believed to be the anticipated names for Apple's augmented reality/virtual reality headset. Apple hasn't said much about its upcoming headset. It was initially expected to be released this year. Fans also hoped the company would unveil it at its Worldwide Developers Conference. But, of course, that didn't happen. Instead, it was delayed to next year. One rumor suggested June, but more recent reports believe it will be released in Jan. 2023.

While Apple hasn't said much, rumors have swirled about what users can expect from the headset. Its operating system will likely be called realityOS. Mark Gurman reported that it would have an M2 silicon chip. He also suggested that Memojis would be used in FaceTime Calls. SharePlay is also expected to be part of FaceTime calls, so users can watch movies or listen to music together. Gurman has also pondered what Apple may call its headset. He suggested Apple Vision, Apple Sight, iSight and Apple Reality. It appears he wasn't far off.

According to Bloomberg, Apple has filed patents for "Reality Processor," "Reality Pro" and "Reality One." This suggests that one of these could be the name of Apple's anticipated mixed reality headset. The filing was made in the U.S., the U.K, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and Uruguay. The filing was not made by Apple but by a shell company Immersive Health Solutions LLC, which is believed to be one of Apple's shell companies. This is so the company keeps things under wraps before they are ready to announce something officially.

What Will Apple's Headset Be Called?

Reality Processor is probably referring to the chip, which makes it likely that Reality Pro and Reality One will be the headsets' names. Apple has pro versions of its smartphones, so it wouldn't be a surprise if it releases one for its headset. Two possible prices have been reported, $2,000 and $3,000. So the Reality Pro could be at the $3,000 price point, while the Reality One could be priced at $2,000

These patent filings also suggest that Apple is on track for Jan. 2023 release. Apple could make an official announcement anytime in the next few months. It could be feasible that pre-orders could start for the holiday season. January isn't that far away, so hopefully, fans won't have to wait too long for the announcement.
