How the heck did I miss this? The boys behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are going to be making the Ant-Man movie! For those of you who don’t know, Ant-Man is a Marvel Comics character who uses technology which allows him to shrink down to the size of an insect and can also communicate with the little creepy-crawlers.
Yes, not exactly an “A-List” superhero, but he was a member of The Avengers.

The main guy behind the movies mentioned above is Edgar Wright, but according to him while Ant-Man will be funny, it won’t be the same sort of humor seen in “Shaun” or “Fuzz.” Here is his response when asked about the tone of the film:
“I don’t want it to be a superhero spoof, because superhero spoofs and man-in-tights spoofs have absolutely been done to [expletive] death — after ‘The Incredibles’, which is sort of the last word on superhero parody. So it’s going to be something different. It’s going to be funny, but in a different way other than just, ‘Hey, he’s small!’ [laughs] When it was first pitched to me, somebody said, ‘It’s Honey, I Shrunk the Superhero.’ And I said, “I would do everything except that film.” [laughs]
There will be no other “Avengers” in the film, either… the film will be just about the title character.
I’m not sure how they’re going to balance the comic book roots of the character while making this one funny, considering the history of the Scott Lang version of Ant-Man: Imprisoned burglar, wife divorces him and he has a daughter that is deathly ill. I guess if anyone can pull it off, though, it’s these guys.

I read a Q+A with Edgar Wright a while back in a Wizard mag, and he was talking about on how cool of character Ant-Man was, and how he was a total ‘Marvel Head’ when he was kid. Later on he said he would love to take a shot at an Ant-Man movie.Egdar said he would have Hank Pym as the first Ant-man and than Scott Lang as the second one later on in the film. I can’t remember what issue it is though, and I don’t feel going through all the wizard mags now. But yeah, that’s pretty cool, Edgar Wright doing Ant-Man.
Although IMDB lists the character as Pym, I think that’s incorrect.

Ant-man? No offense but how desperate did Marvel get to even print that? WOW.
That said, if the “Fuzz” guys are on board, this is bound to be hilarious and well worth the watch!
LOL, yeah… when I first heard “Ant-Man” was on the production slate a while back I kind of scratched my head as well.

The Ant Man movie is being made to pave the way for the avengers movie. If anyone remembers correctly, the original Avenger’s mansion was the hoe of Henry(Hank) Pym, and his wife Janet Van Dyne, a.k.a. The Wasp. Ant Man could d much more than shrink and talk to ants, he could also grow, sometimes to 60 ft. tall, and his strength grew in proportion. He also created Not only Ultron, but rebuilt Vision a few times. Yeah the old cartoon made him look like a jackass, but what about when The wasp divorces him? He began to get violent and ht Janet. But f course, no one actually read ant man did they?
Ant-man sucks. Nuff said.
