It is being reported around the web that the person who who has been hired to produce and possibly star in the big screen adaption of The Green Hornet will be Seth Rogen. For those of you unfamiliar with The Green Hornet, Britt Reid was a debonair newspaper publisher by day and masked superhero by night. A precursor to Batman, grand nephew of The Lone Ranger, Britt and his trusted sidekick Kato fought to rid the world of crime. When we think of debonair newspaper publishers, don’t we all picture the gentleman above?
Way to go Hollywood.

This is right up there with the rumor a while back about Jack Black playing Green Lantern. Now I am not all that familiar with Seth Rogen. I vaguely remember him in The 40 Year Old Virgin, everyone I know who saw Knocked Up said it was pretty good. I am sure he is very talented and possibly even a comic genius, but this casting choice does not give me a lot of confidence in the movie. He just does not seem to fit the part. At one point, George Clooney was rumored to play the role, at another point Jake Gyllenhaal was attached as Britt Reid with Jet Li as Kato and Kevin Smith to direct. Those choices seem pretty sound, this one makes little to no sense. Why can’t Hollywood take these movies seriously?
I’m so tired of flavor of the moment casting.

most of the rumors i see say he IS writing it and will PROBABLY or MAY star in it
so lets wait and see shall we?
I know, I just worry that they will do it. I did put “potentially” in the title of the article.
Well Variety states that he will “likely star” in the film. On the face of it I agree with Shane - unless they hook Rogen up with a personal trailer and he hits the gym/diet hard for three months. Of course who knows what direction the story may take.
I just hope they’re not going for a comedy…

Ah… doesn’t this just remind you of those oh-so-wonderful ‘Green Lantern’ rumours?
Personally, I’d be happy if they just go ahead with this and prove what a crap idea it is. That way, I can get my proper Green Lantern film one day.
I doubt I’d follow ‘The Green Hornet’ anyway.

Hopefully when they mean “starring” they mean in a role other than the Hornet. I’ve never been that big a fan of the character, but I’m a fan of comics, so I’d hate to see any character/history get trashed in the wake of Hollywood.
Thank you Shane! Amen! This poor casting must stop before Hollywood confuses and utterly destroys the very foundations of entertainment history. Hey Hollywood, you want to make funny action hero movies perfect for Seth Rogen, Jim Carey or Will Ferrell? Make the Blue Falcon, Plasticman, or Inch High Private Eye. There’s plenty of material that was originally written as funny out there. USE IT!
I would suggest the Tick, but they already tried it on TV. I thought it was a great show, but I don’t think most people got it.
