I’m with Andy on this one. I’m a Christian and was curious about Da Vinci Code because of all the contraversy. Though it wasn’t Oscar material, I enjoyed the film. Like Andy said, it was a work of fiction and the beginning comments of the film stated as much. It was boring at times (like Vic said), but overall, I thought it was pretty good.

I will probably see Angels and Demons.

I saw the movie just due all the controversy over the book, and yeah, it was boring as heck.

I couldn’t care less about this one, so I’m glad Jamie wrote this up.

I didn’t like The Da Vinci Code either and I’m one of the biggest opponents of religion you’ll ever meet but, just because a film carries a message I approve does not make it automatically worth watching. I wish it was more intellectual instead of a mock action movie.

I liked the 3 Dan Brown books I read, including “The DaVinci Code.” I did think that “Angels and Demons” was a better book and “Digital Fortress” was excellent as well. The movie for DaVinci wasn’t great, but I didn’t think it was that bad. I don’t think the book was brought to a screenplay properly, and that is what worries me about Angels.

The controversy over “The DaVinci Code” really was amusing to me in that people were taking everything in the book literally. It was a work of FICTION! People need to lighten up!! The book was no more meant to be taken seriously than Harry Potter. Sheesh!!!

If you like Dan Brown’s books, there is another author whom I like even better. James Rollins. 2 books in particular are excellent: “Map of Bones” and “Black Order.” Good stuff.

DaVinci Code was terrible and Tom Henks actually acted bad in it, and it wasn’t just the dialogue. I think he knew it was crap. He must of, he aint stupid.

I’m definately not paying to see this p.o.s., I learn from my mistakes.

We had a programme over here in the UK which took all of his points in the da Vinci code and proved them not just wrong but daft. Watching that was better than the movie.

Oh, and a secret to the book’s success. I belong to a book club and they sent me a free one without asking! Highly dubious. I swiftly passed it on. I find real history far more interesting and exciting than pseudo-history.

I think the only reason that The DaVinci Code was made into a film was because it was
controversial. Angels & Demons only attacked Catholicism (which many people in America don’t seem to care about), so it wasn’t widely hated or debated in the US. Since The DaVinci Code attacked the roots and beliefs of all Christendom, Evangelical America went nuts with outrage. I must say that Angels & Demons was by far superior to The DaVinci Code in every way (especially in the plausibility category). Except for the last 50 pages, Angels & Demons was a satisfying page-turner. Without giving anything away, Dan Brown just has it in for Christianity.
