Strap in, Anchorman fans. Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and the rest of his news team are stepping into the modern age of the 1980s for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, a sequel that sends our heroes to New York City in an effort to revitalize their careers. Ahead of then lies romance, rivalry, fame and buckets of political incorrectness.

Since it’s been a few years since the release of Anchorman, it might be worth recapping the former members of the Channel 4 news team. There’s Ron, the news anchor, who is kind of a big deal; Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) reads the weather reports and is not completely comfortable with green screen technology just yet; Champ Kind (David Koechner), sports, a man who isn’t afraid to say, “I love you;” Finally there’s field reporter Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), and his friends Octagon, James Westfall and Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

For a visual reminder of who all these brave and noble men of the news are, here are four new character posters in which the gang take the city of New York by the horns and mount it, somehow growing to the size of skyscrapers in the process. It speaks to how recognizable the characters are that these posters don’t even feature the name of the movie, just a big golden “2”.

So far the trailers for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues have been a mixed bag, with hints of some potentially clever commentary on the deterioration in quality of news channels as they seek to keep things fresh 24 hours a day, but also with some retreading of certain jokes from the first movie. It doesn’t help that the original Anchorman is a tough act to follow, remaining one of the most quotable modern comedies around.

Can Ron Burgundy strike gold again in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, or will this movie come down with a case of acute sequelitis? Let us know in the comments if you’ve been impressed by the jokes you’ve seen so far.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is out in theaters on December 20th, 2013.
