New ‘Anchorman 2′ Teaser Trailer: Brick Wishes You Happy Easter

Published 2 years ago by

Champ Kind (David Koechner) has wonderful liquor breath to share with you, Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) now wears 100% pure snake venom, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) wants all you “fat faces” to stay classy, and Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) wishes you a happy Easter. Yep, it’s time for another Anchorman: The Legend Continues teaser trailer.

It’s been almost exactly a year to date since the previous two teasers – which feature Burgundy and his comrades looking dapper as ever (even with Brian’s newfound ’70s-style shaggy beard) – were released, in order to generate buzz for the sequel to Ferrell and company’s excessively-quoted, but still much-beloved, 2004 comedy.

The Legend Continues catches up with San Diego’s #1 news team around the birth of the 24-hours news cycle, which means that Ron must again try (and fail) to accept that the times, they are (still) a changin’. Adam McKay is directing Ferrell for the fourth time since the first Anchorman movie – after Talladega Nights, Step Brothers and The Other Guys – and the pair co-wrote the Anchorman 2 script together.

These Anchorman 2 teasers are meant to jostle you memory about how endearing and funny the film’s main characters are (no more, no less), but it remains to be seen if the actual movie can even come close to matching – or exceeding – its predecessor, in terms of inspired one-liners, gut-busting jokes, clever lampooning of the 1970s news industry, and overall sense of comedic zaniness.

However, with the promise of funny celebrity cameos up the wazoo, multiple full-blown musical numbers, and people like Ferrell and Carell reprising their fan-favorite characters – plus Christina Applegate returning as no-nonsense Veronica Corningstone and Kristin Wiig (Bridesmaids) joining the cast – Anchorman 2 is, at the least, aiming to hit a home run.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues opens in U.S. theaters on December 20th, 2013.

  1. Even though I know it won’t happen I’d be happy if every trailer for this movie was like this. That way we’d be going in completely fresh.

    • I agree completely

    • You know I was criticizing these teasers until I saw your comment. You’re absolutely right. My girlfriend and I loved the first Anchorman and we are both skeptical that this one will be anywhere close to the first one. Too much anticipation can ruin it. So yeah… keep it close to the chest.

      • or vest… whatever floats your boat.

    • Agreed, not watching anything more from the film, if, and when a “real” trailer arrives. I love lamp.

    • Wow! I’m actually surprised I didn’t get blasted for my comment. After I posted I expected to get a bunch of “then stop watching trailers” responses.

  2. Finally a comedy movie that will probably be funny. I don’t remember the last time I went to the theater to see a comedy film.

    • Horrible bosses for me.. but that was what 2-3 years ago?

      • I saw that one where Dax Sheppard has Kristen Bell for a girlfriend and Bradley Cooper is after him ’cause they used to rob banks or something. I forget the name. Tom Arnold is in it too.

I also saw Movie 43. I really didn’t need to see Movie 43.

        • Hit and run

  3. Well I could count that film, but I didn’t even hear about it until it was already out on tv.

  4. Why would they wanna ruin my most beloved news team with musical numbers?

    • Because the Afternoon Delight scene was one of the funniest in the movie.

  5. What do you love?

    • Lamp

  6. The problem with comidies with Will Farrow is that they’re generally more amusing than actually funny. Steve Carrell has been very funny along the way, but somehow Farrow just doesn’t get the kind of scripts that come across as real gut busters. I saw him in a movie a few years ago that wasn’t a comedy and he seemed much more suited for that kind of acting than comedy. But I guess he’ll keep trying for a while…What the hell…As long as there’s a big paycheck…Who wouldn’t?

    • Damn…Should of proofed before hitting submit…

    • You are aware that Will “Farrow” is a comedian, yes?

      • There’s a difference between doing their “Own” bits on stage and delivering someone’s lines on film. It seems to me that they have him be that SNL guy in every comedy instead of something fresh. It’s not just him, but most of the peopl who come out of SNL. It’s like they want hem to do a 90 minute version of some of their 5 minute bits from the show. Even if its not a direct bit it’s often close enough. Like I said….I really liked his performance in a movie that wasnt a comedy. He can do drama pretty well

  7. Tears in the eyes with laughter at that video. Finally, a comedy movie that will actually be funny. We haven’t had one of those since….well, Anchorman really.

I agree with the comment that all trailers should be like this one. They should keep as little of this movie visible as possible to avoid potentially giving away aspects of the plot or ruining jokes. That way it can be like The Joker’s pencil trick in TDK or quite a lot of IM3 moments where the entire audience laughed when things happened or were said that were genuinely hilarious. Knowing jokes beforehand kinda ruins that aspect and takes the fun out of watching the full movie.

If we could pre-order movie tickets this far in advance like we can with videogames, I’d put my money down right now.

  8. Don’t act like you’re not impressed.

  9. “HEY FAT FACE!…You stay classy” LOL Ron Burgundy is hilarious
