This is a difficult prospect, and being the imposter is hard to play effectively. There are many guides out there as to things players should do as an imposter. Here are things to never do as an imposter.

Things to Never Do as an Imposter in Among Us

Meeting Goes Wrong in Among Us

Never be inconsistent: Someone who becomes an imposter should be aware of how they play as a crewmate, then try to emulate that style as much as possible. This is especially important if they are playing with the same group over several rounds. If not, others will start to think that player is acting “sus” (suspicious). This also means they will have an alibi when the accusations start flying.

Never be unaware of the surroundings: Since imposters need to kill off the other players it is important to have a plan for attacking their target. Check other rooms, and make sure no one is watching the cameras before going in for the kill. While it is possible for the imposter to talk their way out of being caught in the act, it is not an ideal situation to be in.

Never admit to being the imposter: When a player becomes an imposter, it is important to commit to that role. Part of that is to never break character. The round only ends with either victory for the crewmates, or victory for the imposter(s). Before that occurs, anything can happen. Players can change their mind and vote for someone else, or end up skipping or even get disconnected. If there are not enough votes to eject someone, the game continues.

It is especially important to never admit to being the imposter during games with multiple imposters, and the Confirm Ejects setting set to off. With Confirm Ejects off, the game will simply say who was ejected, but will not tell whether they are an imposter or not. Admitting guilt makes it that much harder to win for other imposters.

Never be unprepared: Playing the imposter is the most difficult position, and while it can be a lot of fun to play, it can also be stressful trying to commit murder and not get caught, all the while crafting an alibi. The imposter should have a plan for what they want to do, the lies they want to tell, but be flexible enough to come up with new plans on the fly, because things do not always go to plan.
