[WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for The Americans season 2.]

Season 2 of FX’s critically-acclaimed series The Americans took viewers on a wild ride that started off with a triple homicide, and then didn’t stop until the danger led straight into the Jennings’ backyard. The period drama about two KGB spies posing as Americans during the Cold War definitely found its footing this past season, earning itself a spot on AFI and Time Magazine’s top ten series of 2014.

But now the pressure is on. Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) will have a new crisis to contend with in season 3, following the season finale revelation that their daughter Paige (Holly Taylor) has been targeted for recruitment by the KGB. Philip of course is vehemently opposed to the idea, while Elizabeth believes Paige should know the truth, and their difference of opinion will lead them both down very different paths going forward.

A new trailer for season 3 (above) shows just how far the two will be divided when The Americans returns. But adding to their family drama is also FBI Agent Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), who grows ever closer to discovering their true identities. And it looks like he may in fact catch Elizabeth this season, as there’s talk of the FBI setting up a road block to stop a woman. Meanwhile, Stan’s old flame Nina appears to still be alive, despite last being seen heading for Moscow to stand trial for treason.

The trailer also introduces Frank Langella as the couple’s new handler, replacing Margo Martindale as Claudia, who may return somewhere down the line. That’s Langella’s voice saying to the Jennings: “Don’t let your conscience get us killed.”

And while the lyrics “I’ll be watching you” have always sounded creepy no matter how you swing it, The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” has a whole new meaning when you’re talking about undercover spies. The pop song is the perfect anthem for a trailer that features Elizabeth and Philip’s lives circled by not only Stan Beeman, but also the KGB and probably many others we don’t know about yet.
