american reunion cast American Reunion Red Band Teaser Trailer Is Totally Inappropriate

When you disclude the numerous direct-to-DVD American Pie spinoff movies, about nine years will have passed between the last official installment in the raunchy comedy franchise (American Wedding) – and the release of the fourth chapter, appropriately titled American Reunion.

The newly-released red band teaser for Reunion is less a full preview – and more simply a chopped-up version of a scene that contains (what else) awkward humor and low-brow sex gags. Then again, would you expect it to feature anything else?

American Reunion was written and directed by filmmaking duo Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, a.k.a. the scribers responsible for the Harold & Kumar movies. However, whereas the latter films are all about delivering shock-tastic R-Rated jokes, the American Pie franchise has generally aimed to mix the raunch with uncomfortable, but relatable comedy and heartfelt character moments. So Hurwitz and Schlossberg are in slightly new territory here.

Rest assured, though, American Reunion will deliver the crude comedy goods – as evidenced by this first teaser, which sees Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) trapped in an average married couple nightmare scenario.

See what we mean by watching the definitely NSFW American Reunion teaser below:

Here is the official synopsis for American Reunion, in case you were wondering:

It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim (Biggs) and Michelle (Hannigan) married while Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) and Vicky (Tara Reid) said goodbye. Oz (Chris Klein) and Heather (Mena Suvari) grew apart, but Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) still longs for Stifler’s mom (Jennifer Coolidge). Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about—and get inspired by—the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.

In other words: American Reunion aims to be something along the lines of a teen sex comedy… that stars a group of 30-something year olds. That’s not to say the American Pie formula (ie. mix genuine emotion with lewd jokes) won’t work here, but the balancing act of heart and humor might seem a bit more strained this round. Likewise, it’ll probably be difficult for the cast members to recreate that sense of genuine camaraderie they had in earlier films… but, to be fair, that’s part of the central conflict this fourth time around.

American Reunion arrives in theaters around the U.S. on April 6th, 2012.

  1. YES!!!!

  2. it should be funny i presume the audience grew up so i expect the writing to have adapted accordingly

  3. That trailer is hysterical and typical of American Pie. If the whole film is like that, it should be pretty funny.

  4. The trailer is okay but why a fourth one?

Yeah ignore those straight to DVD movies but there is no reason why a fourth one is being made.

I just hope this movie turns out to be great as the first one.

  5. Oh Yeah the Steve Miser is back !

    • is it Stiff or Steve ??? …What ever !

  6. Who cares? Was the world clammering for a fourth one? Are they going to reminisce about the bet and make a new one? “Bet I can get laid before the reunion is over!” “Let’s all reminisce about ten years ago, when Monica Lewinsky was all over the news and that first X-Men movie can out!”.
