American Horror Story adds some sexy to its mystery by casting sultry French actress Lizzie Brocheré in its much anticipated and secret-shrouded second season.

Brocheré was selected for the pivotal role following an extensive and widespread casting call for a femme fatale character named Gia.  Not much is known about what exactly the character’s role will be, but initially the role of Gia was described as a ‘dangerously promiscuous wild-child who is meant to be the nemesis to Jessica Lange.’ Apparently the character has recently been retooled, having been “changed considerably” in some unknown fashion.

Unless you’re a fan of French art house cinema, the name Lizzie Brocheré may not ring any bells. Brocheré is known for her large gamut of somewhat controversial  NC-17 films in her native France.  American Horror Story will mark the Paris-born actress’s first American television role.

Former cast members Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott and Taissa Farmiga – who played the ill-fated Harmons in series one – will not be returning for the upcoming season. Season 2 is set in an East Coast mental institution, but Lange, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe, will all be back - albeit in totally new roles.

Also joining FX’s cult-hit for season 2 is Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine, whose character is simply described as half of a duo known only as “The Lovers”.

Ryan Murphy is remaining very tight-lipped about the upcoming seasons of both his hit shows, Glee and American Horror Story. It is still unknown what, if anything, season 2 of AHS will do to answers fans’ burning questions after the macabre season 1 finale - especially that of Constance and the fate of Vixen and Tate’s demon baby. It’s been hinted that there may be some ties to the former season, but as the returning stars are set to play totally different characters, it seems likely that eager fans are just going to have to wait.
