The new trailer for American Horror Story: Cult reveals this season's upcoming storyline and it's all about your darkest phobias. Cult is the seventh season for the FX horror anthology series and it will center around the mayhem and horror that takes place after the fateful 2016 election night, when Donald Trump was elected U.S. president.

Before the trailer dropped, we had little information about Cult - other than it centers around the election, includes a creepy clown cult and features Twisty the Clown from American Horror Story: Freak Show, in some capacity. American Horror Story regulars Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham, Emma Roberts and Chaz Bono are along with the ride with series newcomers Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Colton Haynes, Alison Pill and Lena Dunham.

Now, thanks to the latest Cult trailer, we are finally getting a look at the characters and plot for the upcoming season. Based on the trailer, there are a couple of surprising moments and basic plot points to break down and mull over until the season premieres on September 5; the first being Ally (Sarah Paulson) and Ivy's (Alison Pill) relationship as a married lesbian couple with a child. It's no surprise that this season features characters who are members of the LGBTQIA community, given that creator and showrunner Ryan Murphy has said that Cult's story focuses on marginalized demographics. AHS also has a history of representing the LGBTQIA community, most notably with Murder House, Asylum and Hotel

What is surprising though is that, prior to this trailer dropping, we were told by Murphy through his Instagram that Ally and Kai (Evan Peters) would be in "...a love story for the ages.” This has us questioning Peter's role in the series, considering Kai in the trailer sounds like he's hellbent on creating terror through people's phobias, like Ally's coulrophobia (fear of clowns). So there are mutiple possibilities for how this "love story" is going to go. One being that Kai might be obsessed with Ally and he is trying to terrorize her into falling in love with him, another could be that Ally and Kai develop a secret love affair or that they were in a relationship at one point and Kai just can't move on from it.

Another aspect we found interesting from this trailer is Billie Lourd's role. It looks like her character Winter Anderson (who has the same last name as Kai, so we're assuming that they are related somehow) is going to be working with Kai to infiltrate Ally and Ivy's home as a "harmless" babysitter for their son. Of course we know this is is not going to end well, considering that we see Winter give their son a Twisty the Clown figure. Is she trying to recruit their son into the clown cult?
