AMC Theatres’ Search For Stubs Challenge: Help Screen Rant Win!

AMC Search For Stubs

Here at Screen Rant, we are fortunate to have the best readers on the web. An exciting opportunity has come our way and we need you to help push me, Screen Rant writer/video editor Mike Eisenberg, to the top of the leaderboard.

AMC Theatres has launched a new rewards program called AMC Stubs. As part of the initial launch, they have selected three movie bloggers to compete in a movie-watching competition like no other. The contestant who earns the most AMC Stubs points between April 15th and May 6th will win the grand prize of five years of free movies.

Here is how you can get involved. First, head over to the AMC Stubs Facebook page and learn more about the AMC Stubs program and how this contest is integrated into the program. More importantly, I want you to come to a movie with me.

I am based in Chicago, IL and will do much of my movie-going around the city – but I will also be in New York City from April 23rd through April 26th. I will hold a contest of some kind within the next couple of weeks to pick a winner who will attend a movie “on the house” with me and be a part of a Screen Rant video blog about the event.

Aside from the contest, there is one way to truly help me win. Once you’ve signed up for AMC Stubs, head over HERE and vote for me. If I get the most votes, I’ll earn 5,000 points (a huge amount). This is where the massive brotherhood of Screen Rant readers comes into play. AMC Stubs costs $12 per year, but the rewards seem very generous, especially a $10 return for every $100 you spend at AMC Theatre locations. Essentially, you’ll get that yearly expense back after only a couple trips to the theater.

Here is the points breakdown so you have a better idea of the contest:

Points          Action
100             Purchased ticket
50              Each additional ticket purchase per movie (for a friend, for example)
1,000          Visits a new theatre
200            Visits a theatre in a new state
200            Popcorn and fountain drink purchase
100            Concession upgrade
50             For each additional concession purchase (for a friend, for example)
5,000          The blogger with the most friends on AMCStubs.com

Obviously, the two biggest components of this contest are new theaters and AMC Stubs friends. I’ve looked through some scheduling possibilities and hope to see somewhere between 30-40 movies in the 21 days of competition. It will be difficult, but exciting and doable. The only way I can survive this mentally is to see these movies with friends. If you live in the Chicago area, don’t hesitate to contact me and maybe we can go to a few movies together.

The easy part is going to the movie theater. But I want this to be more than that – I want you to get involved. Stay tuned for at least two updates per week on my whereabouts, experiences, movie reviews and more, and hopefully you can win a free movie ticket and become part of the competition.

Are you already an AMC Stubs member? Do you want to get involved and hit the theater with me? Leave me a message about the contest in the comments section below.

  1. Hey!

I’m in NYC and already a member. It carried over for me from Moviewatcher for free. I go to the movies so much, I still have 3 free passes. I usually hit up a movie before noon every weekend…6 bucks! I’d love to do this, I know film and love film so let me know if I win! I’m in! Voted for you too!

  2. Well… there is a slight problem. I didn’t know I had to register the card. I was already an MW member and they sent me the Stubs card so I threw away the MW card.

Well in order to keep my old points (apparently) I need to register this card (which I thought they already had hooked to my acct) so now I have to contact them.

However I’m confused, I don’t know how to add YOU to my list or w/e…

    • I had a similar problem, except I only received an email telling me to sign up for stubs and it’ll transfer. Well, it didn’t transfer and they tried charging me $12. I had to call them and they gave me my number so I take it with me when I go, but it’s been 3 weeks and they’re still “working on it”. Stupid company but whatever.

      • AMC must have seen your comment here because they e-mailed me to make sure you have the right customer service info:

“I also wanted to make sure that your readers had the right contact info for customer service to get any problems worked out. They are customerservice@amcstubs.com or 1-888-562-4262. Please feel free to share these.”

  3. I voted for you. :) I got my stubs membership card about 2 weeks ago. My 1st year was free since I already had an AMC Movie watcher membership. :)

    I don’t live in Chicago though. :(

  4. Thanks for your votes! Raven, where do you live?

Jeff, I will be in New York April 23-26… Maybe we can hit up a movie with a few others

    • Sounds good to me! Saturday the 23rd works best for me!

    • Columbus Ohio. Not exactly in your area. lol

I hope you win though. Can we vote for you more than once? Is it a vote once a day thing?? I know some contest allow people to vote everyday, so just wondering.

  5. Done!

    • Ditto!

    • Thanks guys! I’ll be back with another update on Monday…Going to 8 movies in 8 theaters in 2 days this weekend!

  6. =shrug= Doesn’t do me any good as I don’t live in the US…

  7. No AMC theaters near me, everything close by is Regal Cinemas. Best of luck, though, Mike!!!

  8. Voted. I feel the jury’s still out on that $12 annual membership fee – I don’t think any rewards program has had the audacity to charge you for the ability to earn rewards, especially ones based around the fairly high price of regular moviegoing. I’ve been meaning to sit down and compare my Regal Crown Club rewards vs. Stubs for a few weeks now… will let you know what closer inspection reveals.

    • I’m a member of Regal as well.

Paying for a membership in to these things is a little crazy and I’m not sure I have any theaters in my area that accept it or not anyway. I’ll have to look in to that

  9. When you to the movies as much as I do, well over 52 times a year you get back the 12 bucks from Stubs several times over. Besides anyone that was in the moviewatcher program gets the first year free.

  10. Can’t wait for our new AMC Randurst 16 to open out here in Mount Prospect. Are you going to be heading out our way anytime?

    • Yea, I’ll be at those opening night movies too. Gonna see Godfather at 6 pm and Dark Knight at 10:30!

  11. There’s an AMC about 20 minutes from my home a bit of the way outside of NYC, but maybe I could swing into NYC for a movie or two this coming weekend. Dunno yet.
And I’ll inquire tomorrow about the point shift thing. I registered for AMC Stubs when I saw Source Code about 2ish weeks ago in the theatre …

  12. i am a manager at a harkins theatre here in phx, az. so i have had free movies for about a solid three yrs now. so no amc for me. but best of luck sir, your edits are well done.

  13. You got my vote Mike! Good luck! Unfortunately I’m in SC so I can’t go see one with ya but best of luck!

  14. Come to Boston! Its only a few hours from NYC…..haha

  15. Drive down to STL …. and we’ll go to some movies with you!
    Voted….good luck!

  16. Just wanted to know if anyone else is having problems signing into the amc stubs site. Have not been able to sign in for about a month.
    Thanks

  17. I want to register my card, but I cannot log into the website. Is there a problem with the website or what?
