Amazon's Echo Show smart displays are an excellent addition to any home, especially if you want a quick and easy way to watch TV. When Amazon launched its first Echo Show in 2017, the smart display was initially met with mixed reactions. Adding a display to the Alexa experience made it objectively more useful, but the bland design, limited touchscreen functionality, and high price made it a tough sell.

Thankfully, the Echo Show has improved a lot in the years since then. Not only has Amazon released more models with improved hardware and more accessible prices, but their functionality is better than ever. From making Zoom calls to watching the live feed of a security camera, the possibilities with Echo Show today are insurmountable.

One feature every Echo Show owner should know how to do is watch TV. Streaming video services are everywhere these days, and along with being on your phone and TV, they're also on the Echo Show. There are a couple of ways to start watching TV on an Echo Show, the easiest of which is to say, 'Alexa, go to video home.' This takes users to a dedicated TV/movie interface. Here, they can browse through available video apps and a collection of TV shows and movies recommended from Amazon Prime Video. Users can also get to this same page by swiping down from the top of the Echo Show's display and tapping 'Video.' Alternatively, Echo Show users can ask Alexa to open a specific video app (such as 'Alexa, open Netflix').

Once you're on this Video page, what exactly will Echo Show users find there? Unsurprisingly, the biggest TV app on the Echo Show is Amazon Prime Video. Along with it having a dedicated app on the Echo Show, the 'video home' page also surfaces TV shows and movies available through Prime Video. So long as someone's subscribed to Amazon Prime with the Amazon account logged into their Echo Show, Prime Video content should automatically be there.

Along with Prime Video, the Echo Show also has access to the following streaming apps: Netflix, Hulu, Tubi, Food Network Kitchen, and Red Bull TV. It's far from the most extensive list and is missing some pretty big names (such as HBO Max and Peacock), but it should give Echo Show users plenty of content to watch while doing dishes or making dinner. Amazon confirmed in September 2021 that Sling TV support would be coming soon, but as of right now, the app still isn't available.

As for using these different TV apps, each one has its own unique setup process. Netflix, for example, allows users to sign into their account right on the Echo Show. Just head to the 'video home' page, tap the Netflix icon, and enter your account information to start watching. For Hulu, Tubi, and all the other apps, users need to first add their respective Alexa skill. Open the Alexa app on your phone, tap the compass icon in the top-right corner, tap the search button, search for the video app you want to use, tap 'Enable To Use,' and follow the instructions for linking your account. Keep these tips in mind, and you'll be watching TV on your Amazon Echo Show in no time at all.
