Marvel’s The Avengers has officially kicked the summer 2012 movie season off to a record-breaking start, and other studios are no doubt chomping at the bit to get into the game with their own tentpole offerings.

Today we’ve rounded up new promotional images from The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as new TV advertisements for Pixar’s princess fairy tale Brave and the sci-fi threequel Men in Black III. Add to that a hilarious clip featuring the love life of David Hasselhoff as depicted in Piranha 3DD, a vertigo-inducing new clip from Snow White and the Huntsman, and a Japanese trailer and final poster for the sequel/reboot G.I. Joe Retaliation.

The Amazing Spider-Man Promo Images

Have you seen the third trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man yet? If not, you may still be under the impression that this Spider-Man reboot from Sony and director Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer) is going to be a disaster. If that latest trailer taught ME anything, it’s that Amazing Spider-Man is going to be anything but; in fact, I have a feeling that the 3D effects in ASM will likely trump that post-conversion job we got with The Avengers. (Yup, I said it!)

Today’s promo images aren’t going to excite the naysayers, but fans of Amazing Spider-Man should enjoy seeing Andrew Garfield as Spidey/Peter Parker and Emma Stone as his love interest, Gwen Stacy:

The Amazing Spider-Man will be in theaters (2D and 3D) on July 3, 2012.

Brave and Men in Black III TV Spots

This summer, Pixar is boldly going where it has never gone before: into the realm of princess fairy tales. With Brave, the acclaimed animation studio hopes to explore such post-feminist ideas like gender roles, obligation, and the relationship between mother and daughter. Of course, given that the tale is set in the Celtic culture of Scotland, there will be plenty of opportunity to poke fun at things like kilts, which this latest Brave spot does in spades:

Men in Black III sees Will Smith back as Agent J, this time sent to the past to save his partner Agent K’s younger self (Josh Brolin mimicking Tommy Lee Jones) from an assassination that leads to planetary conquest. If you saw our last Men in Black III clips, you have an idea about the lighthearted tone this film will strike. These latest TV spots continue that trend:

Men in Black III will be in (3D) theaters on May 25, 2012. Brave will be in theaters on June 22, 2012.

SWATH & Piranha 3DD Clips

Snow White and the Huntsman continues to be one of most anticipated blockbusters of summer 2012 – thanks in large part to the darkly epic vision of first-time feature-film director Rupert Sanders. Today’s clip from SWATH features Snow White (Kristen Stewart) taking in some of that aforementioned macabre set design, as she stumbles through the dark forest:

Conversely, the clip from Piranha 3DD features the dark and macabre designs of… David Hasselhoff’s sex life:

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Japanese Trailer & Final Poster

Coming in late June is the action/adventure blockbuster G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which will continue the story started in the 2009 film Rise of Cobra, while also offering both fans and non-fans alike the (hopefully welcome) chance of a semi-fresh start. The tale is a simple one of good guys getting revenge on bad guys, as is detailed in this new Japanese preview for the film:

If that weren’t enough, here’s a final poster depicting the revamped cast – now led by stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Bruce Willis, Ray Park (Snake Eyes) and Adrianne Palicki – front and center:

  1. “If that latest trailer taught ME anything, it’s that Amazing Spider-Man is going to be anything but…”

Funny, if movie trailers have taught ME anything, it’s that movie trailers are pretty meaningless as a gauge as to whether a movie will be good or not.

    • I think he meant it’s going to be “anything but” a disaster. Not “anything but” Amazing.. Having the word “Amazing in the title makes that sentence read two different ways, lol.

I agree, trailers can often be the worst gauge of whether a film is actually good or not.

      • Yes, that’s exactly how I read it.

I am just surprised someone from SR would consider a trailer to be the basis for whether a movie was going to be good or not.

(and just so you know I’m not bias…..I had my doubt’s about The Avengers. I’ve seen too many bad movies that had rockin’ trailers)

    • Oh save it mongoose.

      • no way man! This is SR and if I’m not allowed to rant then I might as well go elsewhere.

    • …but neverthless I’m pretty sure it’s going to be good.

    • Pirates of The Caribbean- part7

  2. Hmm, I thought the trailer for TASM cemented the fact that it’s going to be terrible. I still think Garfield is the completely wrong choice for Spidey.

    • What? Despite Spidey seeming more Spidey like in the cool new trailer!?

    • I like him better than Tobey Maguire. I swear, I never liked him for Parker. I have to admit, he did a good job in the first Spidey film, but the next two films were so painfully bad that I feel like the nerd in me is getting punched in the gut when I watch them.
Now, yes there were other people who could have possibly been better for the part, but at least we are getting a Spider-Man film that is a higher caliber than the last films.
Honestly, watching SM2/SM3 I feel like I’m watching a super hero version of the show “Friends.” But instead of the constant roller coaster between Ross and Rachel, its Peter and Mary Jane.
I want a movie that is about SPIDER-MAN, not his alter ego’s relationship status.

      • not even when its emma stone?

  3. We all know that emma stone is going to die in the second movie!!!!

  4. For me to like the amazing spider-man, it’s has to be better than Sam Raimi’s original two. Which I doubt will happen…

  5. The Brave TV spot is hilarious!

  6. Finally some good movies at the cinema.
