Sony will attempt to successfully relaunch the Spider-Man movie franchise with next month’s The Amazing Spider-Man. Later this summer, Sylvester Stallone and his fellow action star legends will demonstrate just how much gunfire, explosions, and cheesy one-liners you can cram into a single movie, with The Expendables 2.

We’ve rounded up new extended TV spots for both film, which can be viewed after the jump. Feel free to let us know your own thoughts about each title, in the comments section.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) makes his debut as Peter Parker in Amazing Spider-Man, which re-explores the origins of the titular costumed superhero from a different perspective. Moreover, director Marc Webb’s reboot also follows Pete on a quest to discover the truth behind the disappearance of his biological parents so many years ago.

That task is complicated by such “factors” as Peter’s high school sweetheart Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), his father’s ex-partner who transforms into a hideous reptilian monster after an experiment gone-very-wrong.

The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters around the U.S. on July 3rd, 2012.

The Expendables 2

Sly returns as aging mercenary Barney Ross in Expendables 2, which sees him reunite with his fellow ruffians (Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Jet Li, etc.) when the enigmatic Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists them for what should’ve been an easy paycheck. Instead, one of the Expendables’ own is brutally murdered, inspiring Barney and his team to seek vengeance against the crime lord responsible (Jean-Claude Van Damme).

Expendables 2 also features an extended role for Arnold Schwarzenegger, plus new cast additions such as Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth and Yu Nan – along with a different director, in Simon West (Con Air, The Mechanic).

The Expendables 2 charges into U.S. theaters on August 17th, 2012.

  1. how come jet li isn’t in any of the two crew shots? *Ahem* They should delay it til next year – shoot more scenes with Li and not kill him off at the beginning to attract the chinese audience

    • LOL @ Kayell! Inside joke!

  2. I would also cast the kid from the Tekken Movie.

  3. I would also add Michael Dudikoff

    • Was wondering about him too,the American Ninja Dudukoff is really missed !

  4. the shot immediately after “hey parker, you wanna play football” looks f’n phenomenal.

  5. Can’t wait for spiderman

  6. every time I see media for the new spiderman movie I think “white people problems”

    • lol why?

  7. I think the Spider may be the Bats biggest enemy this year ! Looks incredible !

  8. I’ll buy the Spiderman DVD, since I have all the others, but I think this will be the weakest of the 4 Spiderman movies.

      • Me three!! I’ll pass on Spidey. Pretty sure I’ll be at 4th of July celebrations all week or at home watching SpiderMan 1-3 on DVD! Looks like a train wreck!

  9. Chuck Norris!

  10. The trailers pretty much spoiled the plot for Spiderman. I guess they would go down the Marvel path and introduce the next villain in the end to keep the intrigue

  11. I am actually more excited for this than the Avengers. I think we already had a sense that Avengers was going to be a great movie for some reason. This movie has a lot to prove, since Spidey is alone in his own world, separate from the MCU and the last Spider-Man movie was dreadful.

    • I completely agree. Avengers, and I’d also definitely add TDKR, both had/have incredible hype leading up to them. There was no doubt (or at least very little doubt) that they would both be successful. Spidey is a bit of a wild card this summer. Many people may be tired of seeing him again. But I think this new take, new cast, new look, and new origin (?) will make this movie a success.

  12. I dont like the idea of Li dying in Expendables 2. He was totally underutilized in the first one and I thought the second movie would rectify that. Here is to hoping they kill off someone else…anyone else besides Li.
